What is a "proxy error" and why is it on the site right now?

1) I think this might help you, although it's a little complicated:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894483

2) You can download the game from the ''Help and Support'' page on the Pirates Online website.

Starting from http://piratesonline.go.com/#/commun...nity-home.html

if you log in, you get the proxy error when you try to log in. If you refresh the page or revisit it, you are logged in. If you logged into the wrong pirate and try to logout, you get infinite "Proxy Error" messages.
Quote:

Proxy Error

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request GET /v3/util/logout.

Reason: Error reading from remote server

Apache/2.0.52 (Red Hat) Server at piratesonline.go.com Port 80
If you go into firefox' Tools, Options, Privacy, Show Cookies, you can remove the "piratesonline.go.com" cookies, then Ctrl-F5 the web page several dozen times (removing those cookies each time) and it sometimes will then log you out.

To download the desktop version, start at

then go down the left column to "Help" then "Download for Pc."

I have had this problem on Firefox... however when I used the site through internet explorer it worked fine. Its a problem with the browser, not the site.
