Read Wikipedia.

They are on a search to find the Fountain of Youth. Blackbeard is the "enemy." But read the Wiki, there is much more

I noticed something. One of the stills for the movie mentions Jack was taken before King George of England. In mentioning an English king they finally ascribed an actual range of dates for the movies and thus the game. Checking on Wikipedia I found out King George was only the king between August 1, 1714 to his death in 1727. Therefore the movies and game can only be during that short period of time. Though you could possibly add a few years to the front if the On Stranger Tides was set in 1714 or 15, just due to the passage of time in the first movie. Still, that nails down a nice lovely block of years rather than a span of a century in which the movies and games actually took place.

On top of that, because the movie has Blackbeard as a main character, then all of the movies must have taken place before 1718, which was when Blackbeard was killed.

Well he could be undead.

So we are looking at a span from lat 16 hundreds to early 17 hundreds interesting. Well the movie is going to be awesome

maybe it is 1718 but before he was killed.... I hear his head was cut off.

He is Dead in the movie because his crew are Zombies.

Roger Sharkshot 01-17-2011 04:39 AM

I'm sorry to interrupt all of yer thought processes, but this series happens in the 1750's... And you'd like to ask me how?

I can only tell you this much, as it is a HEAVY spoiler: Not only is King George II (not George I, JM Ohara. This one usurped the throne in 1727) vying for the Fountain, but so is another monarch. I am NOT going to reveal who it is or which country he belongs to, but I can tell you that he ascended the throne in the 1740's. Oh and, his marines appear in the trailer as those soldiers who charge their bayonets.

Anyway, this would mean that Blackbeard is 70 years old. I asked the scriptwriter of the movies, Terry Rossio (via e-mail), how Edward Teach survived the Ocracoke Incident; but he stated that the information "remains undefined".

So either Disney fails in accurate dating for their movies, or they have something very interesting up their sleeves....
