College Hoops!

I know there's got to be some other pirates out there who follow college ball. I also expect there might be a separate tournament thread when March rolls around, but anybody want to talk basketball before then? Anybody have any favorite teams/players, early tournament predictions, etc? :rumgt7:

They might as well not play... just accept the inevitable and give Duke the National Title.

Duke...perfect season on their way to another national title.. you heard it here first

jason davy 12-14-2010 12:10 AM

Eh, Duke is definitely looking solid as always but they weren't the best team last year (would have been smashed by Kansas or Kentucky if they hadn't choked out of the tournament early) and I'm not ready to say they are the best this year yet either...especially with Irving out indefinitely.

Edit: They will win the ACC and the ACC tournament though, especially if they have a cakewalk like they did last year.

Cannonfury 12-16-2010 01:10 AM

Another team to watch is Michigan State.

i follow nba not into college until tournements then im siked

I'll definitely be following Michigan State, they had a couple tough losses to Duke and Syracuse but they are always good around tournament time. Heels are off to a rough start too with some stupid losses but hopefully this year's team will at least be better than last year's (and hopefully Harrison Barnes steps up his game and lives up to the hype). There is definitely some optimism and energy with Carolina fans that wasn't there last year, I can tell you the Dean Dome was more rocking in this year's win over Kentucky than any game last year, including the championship rematch against Michigan St and the rivalry game against Duke. If the Heels can pull off a win over Texas Saturday then I'll be a little more optimistic about the rest of the season. I won't really have any predictions about who is going to be super good this year till conference play gets rolling though. Loooooooove basketball season.

Bumping this thread as conference play gets rolling.

Two big comeback wins in a row for the Tar Heels and Duke falls to Florida St - ACC play this year will definitely be interesting, even with Duke being the only ranked team.

Cannonfury 01-14-2011 08:59 PM

I am for Duke, Florida State, and Alabama.

for woman's I'll say Duke and Tenn.

The Skirata Clan 01-15-2011 12:52 AM

I always like the little teams.

jason davy 01-19-2011 11:47 PM

Heels redeemed that disgusting, embarrassing loss at GA Tech with a solid victory over Clemson. If anybody is familiar with The Streak, Clemson is now 0-55 in Chapel Hill.

Duke at NC State should be a good game tonight. Big disparity in talent, but Duke lost on the road at State last year. Also, apparently Irving gets his cast off in early February. Still no word on when (or even IF) he'll be back this season.

Syracuse lost to Pitt so now there's only 3 remaining unbeatens - Kansas, Ohio St, and San Diego St. The latter two play tonight I think, although out of those three I've only watched Kansas.

Let me just say.....

.....ACC CHAMPS.

Cannonfury 03-06-2011 07:53 PM

Anyone going to do a bracket?

jason davy 03-07-2011 07:29 PM

Yeah no doubt.

jason davy 03-22-2011 04:47 AM

I'm so disappointed that we're already to the Sweet 16 and there isn't any awesome basketball talk happening here. Come on now guys. It's not like there's been nothing to talk about either...this tournament's been crazy. My bracket is....dead.

The Skirata Clan 03-22-2011 04:52 AM

Dude! My university lost their ticket by 1 point. And they were winning the whole game. I like UConn/Buttler. I didn't even bother with a bracket. I haven't watched a game out of the Tourney.
