strange pirates online idea number 1: STORMS

pretty much everyone on pirates thinks pirates online should have STORMS :peopirate07bouncele

well my little brain ( sarcasm my brain aint that small o_O) thought of a CRAZY idea of STORMS

theses storms will come in levels...

LEVEL 1:
typical storm... rain some waves

LEVEL 2: not much different then level 1... except there will be lightning! if your ship gets zapped... ( which wont be that often ) you lose 500 hull points... are whatever the ship's life thing is called lightning can also knock down one of yor mast's if it zaps it

LEVEL 3: this 1 is quite different... level 3s have NO LIGHTNING ( :D )
but they are more dangerous its pouring down on your ship, and there r some big waves, if you have your boat completely stopped at zero and a wave hits the broadside of your ship, your ship flips... in most cases your boat sinks but sometimes if your lucky the boat may go all the way back up! ( but your ship will slowly lose life do to lots of water in the lower decks so quick pull over )

LEVEL 4!: all of the above stuff/\ (lighting lots of rain and waves)

LEVEL 5: all of the above stuff... except there is hail and bigger waves! lets start with hail, its hailing! if a peck of hail hits you, you lose 10hp because the hail isnt that big so not much of a threat, and the waves you must at least be going 4 knots to drive over a wave... if not... your boat SINKS... because it flips! an the level 5ness is to strong to get your ship back rightside up!

level 6: heavy rain and a twister in the water... if you get to close it sinks you! to escape it if your caught you must go 15knots... if you cant go 15 knots then... your doomed...

LEVEL 7: every level 7 storm has... lightning some waves you must go 8 knots to go over... hail the size of baseballs! (50hp damage taken if you get hit now ) there are some save spots on every ship to hide from hail if it hits you that much...
also EVERY LEVEL 7 HAS ONLY 1 TIDAL WAVE! if 2 tidal waves then its a level 8...
a tidal wave is a huge! you must go 18 knots to go over it! ( so a fast ship and ramming speed) luckily these waves are slow... you can outrun them if you dont go that fast :)

LEVEL 8: pretty much a level 7 /\ but more then 1 tidal wave

LEVEL 9: hurricane... recommended you dont sail during a huricane... huricanes have lightning huge blocks of hail that do 100 damage! and tidal waves and other types of dangerous waves... during a hurricane you may find a iceburg or 2 floating around...
dont run into the iceburg! if you do you will lose lots of hull points! depending how fast your going you WILL lose 2500-5000 hull points! if you go to the center of a hurricane the odds are the center in a whirl pool and you will sink unless you go 15 knots and get out...

level 10: lightning... baseballs of hail ( 50 hp damage ) and a huge whirlpool! the whirlpool if very dangerous! it can suck you twoards it if you can even see it its that strong!

level 11:HUGE STORM lots of tidal waves... strong lightning that will do 1000 damage to your ship if hit! and some iceburgs floating around...

level 12: huge hurricane! lots of iceburgs, tidal waves STRONG lightning, and all that other terrible stuff like the giant hail that does 100 damage!

level 20: there are no storms from level 13-19 but there is a level 20
a level 20 is just not much... some waves you must go 4 knots to go over...
some lightining that does only 500 damage and the 9 in 10 chance of sinking for no reason at all! if that happens it means the kraken just ate your ship.
your ship will cost the price it is if you sink to fix

now to the details... if your ship sinks and during a storm and another ship didnt sink you and the storm does... your ship costs half price of the usual sunken ship price...
why? cause there arent serverly damaged armour to fix... you just sunk... so yay :D

also! these storms will sink the auto ships like navy and eitc but... it wont sink ghost ships, cause there ALREADY DEAD!

this is my weird idea? so post if you like it or not! im WATCHING you O_O :piratewheelgo2:

I really like the idea. All of it. Although I don't think there should be icebergs... maybe not even hail. Since its tropical and humid in the Caribbean, it isn't cold enough for ice, even during a storm. Its like a warm rain.

nice but twisters can't go on water

swordshot 12-12-2010 10:22 PM

One question, if your boat sinks, would you go to jail? I dont think that you should. I think you can try to swim to a close island. While your swimming, if any object ( hail, lightning, wave, ect. ect. ) hits you, your screen turns black but then you find yourself washed up on any island with lots of HP gone.

True...adding storms would be pretty wild to have...like you said, many would love to see them...

But you also have to remember that POTCO isn't that graphics intensive, so you'd have to do them in a way so everyone could have them, not just those with high end gaming rigs...

I do like your ideas, in particular having storms in levels...like Davy said though I think we could skip the icebergs n hail...how I would do them would be:

Level 1 - rain, choppy seas, stronger winds

Level 2 - rain, choppy seas, stronger winds, dangerous lightning

Level 3 - tropical storm ( Level 2 but now more instense )

Level 4 - hurricane ( Level 2 but now very intense, ie hard rain, high seas, turbulent winds, etc)

The most feared: LEVEL 5 - MAELSTROM ( Level 4 with all the trimmings plus a giant whirlpool )

You know, like in the 3rd movie, when Gibbs shouted out "Maelstrom" and then both the Black Pearl and The Flying Dutchman entered the whirlpool and fought...but for our purposes, sail too close to the Maelstrom and your ship gets pulled down to Davy Jone's Locker...

EDIT: Oh and BladeRoberts, twisters can form on water...they're just called waterspouts...there's an actual video of one if you search the web where you see it by Miami, FL...waterspouts are tornados on the water if conditions are right...

Actually, being the weather bug that I am, Dust Devils aren't actual tornados...they share the same characteristics - ie column of air, but tornados are formed in the mesocyclone of a supercell thunderstorm...

A dust devil is just an updraft, usually on sunny days during fair weather...you could even run thru one because the winds are light...there are rare occassions where one could damage property, etc but even those have winds that aren't close to an F1 tornado...

oh O_O

well once in 4th grade there was a dust devil on the playground! but i was on the other side so i didnt get to jump into it o.o :7c810c6517:

There are also Fire Devils. I think thats when a Tornado goes through something flammable like an oil field and then lights on fire. That would be freaky...

SEAKING23 12-13-2010 12:03 AM

Maybe a whirl pool... now That would be epic!

i think there should be storms that would be caused b jolly, and would be smaller, but lighting would almost never miss. then there would be the normal storms, witch you already described.

Ofury/ Tom 12-13-2010 02:02 AM

I do think this a good idea I would love to have more of a challenge on the seas

Nate Raidhawk 12-13-2010 02:31 AM

I really like this idea, but there should be a ten minute warning before each storm, for example: The Spirits report a Level (whatever) Storm headed to the Caribbean!

So that means that there would be time to finish quests or get off the seas before the storm arrives (Unless daredevils want to stay in a storm O_O).

swordshot 12-13-2010 02:46 AM

Nate, i would :D
