Guild Names?

Hey Im Making a Guild of my Own Soon, But Im Not Sure What to Call It. If You Have Any Suggestions, Put Them Below :laughks2:

A guild name should mean something to the GM. Sure, we could all suggest great names, but the best guild names are somehow a reflection of the GM or it's members. For example when I started my guild I waited a couple days and asked my core group of officers who helped me start what we might name the guild. Our name sprang out of us all being avid late night players. To this day, 7 an a half months later, our core player base is still the late night group. It's just a matter of what means most to you really. But good luck!

Also, don't be discouraged if you don't get the first name you want. You could just try alternate spellings, or adding = to the front and back. I know D says = is an banned guild name character but then we have all seen guilds with them anyway.

Have a name that reflects your name or what you like to do. Or something that makes sense in game. My two guildnames have been Captain's Alliance and Seven Sea Terrors

well if you don't have any ideas you could call it partners n crime 2 or spania the second or whale i am on this incert name of good guild here then insert lowest possible number above one here.

Crestshot 11-30-2010 03:51 AM

Out of respect for Partners N Crime and Spania, I ask that you please do not base your titles off of those guild names.

Mate... It's gotta be something special. In my opinion, a guild's name should have a sense of power to it, a guild name where people will say "Yes, that guild just SOUNDS good." I'd suggest making the guild first, getting a few members, and the discussing it with them. It will make the guild stronger if your members believe they have had a part in really forming it.

Crest is right. Don't copy another guild's name. To tell the truth, if I was someone looking for a guild and I see someone with a guild that copied another's, I will not join it. In my opinion, any guild that copies another guild's name without being directly linked to the original is disrespectful, and what I call a "noob guild".

Your guild's name should not be something you rush. Think about it for a good long while if you have to, or like Crest said, discuss it with your guildmates.

Crim 11-30-2010 04:20 AM

Naming a guild is the first, or one of the first, roles as a Guildmaster. As the others said above the name should be symbolic, but don't just name for the sake of having one. For example, my avatar's name is Crim and each guild created has had Crimson in it (Crimson Squad/Crimson Era) and generally the members who join will wear red to symbolize that. However, it is best not to copy or base your name off another guild. One thing players look for when joining a guild is its name, if it's appealing it will improve the chances.

JM Ohara 11-30-2010 06:25 AM

Crest, Davy, and Crim are right. It's one thing to change a spelling to get a guild name that means something to you. It's another thing entirely to out and out copy another guild name. I actually had that happen with one of my first attempts at a guild. I created Don't Tread On Me almost a year ago. About 2 months later I see running around on Tuga, Dont Tread On Me. as a guild name. Speaking as a GM I was throughly offended to see another guild with what I felt was my guild name. Removing an aphostrophe and adding a period does not a different guild name make. Nor does adding a number after, which should only be done with direct permission of the original guild GM. As I said before, a guild name should mean something to you. If it doesn't no amount of fiddling with spelling and punctuation will make using another guild's name ok.

I agree with Sharktooth, you should name your guild mainly of what you do or something cool. My brother named his guild Liberate Blade. It should be something unike. Maybe something like Loyal Blades or Obediant Blades, something like that. (I just thought of those ideas of the top of my head.. lol.. You can use them if you like them.) Good luck :D

I would usually go with a thing... lets say... a gem, maybe sapphire? Then go with something that seems important to you. Possbily the power of sound? so

It would be Sapphire Sound! :D

The reason my guild is called Partners N Crime is because we had to edit the name Partners In Crime, to show we are the continuation of that guild. Do NOT copy a guild because you want to feed off of their existence. If I ever say a PNC2 running around, I would go INSANE.

The above posters are correct. Originality, generality, and attractivity are just a few things that will make your guild pop in a crowd.

This is a perfect example of many guilds that have actually done well and fed off of another guild's success.

Jacks Bad Side is a guild i tried to create and so you can use the name if you like...

Plus, there is Jolly Resistance which sounds pretty cool

Ofury/ Tom 12-17-2010 11:17 PM

If it helps at all.... My guild name came from placing my Last name into the First part of Brethren Court... Making it O'fury's Court... before that it was Fury's Swords.... but I didn't like that do I renamed it bring the 2 or 3 i had gotten... So i would suggest really liking the name before making it so you don't have to change it later on down the road. and good luck with your guild mate!
