Grape Shot Changed?
 

I'm about to get grape shot on my next skill upgrade, and now it says it's only effective against crew in PVP and Monsters? Eh???


When I had grape shot in Beta I used it on crew of flagships before boarding. Has anyone tried this on open yet? I probably won't take that as my skill point if I can't use it in normal flagship battle.

I've just got my grape shot yesterday, and haven't boarded a ship since I received grape. I have shot it off for the fun of it, and it shoots in open lol. The help guide under Adventures at Sea does say it's effective against crew. It's not in the PVP section. So I imagine it's the same as it always has been.

What's it do? I've never gotten it.

You shoot a ship and you are able to board it.

Grape shot helps to kill crew before boarding a ship. It can't do anything else, which is why I don't use it.

Isn't that.. grapple shot?

no, grappling hooks let you be able to board the ship. you use grape shots after you grapple the ship, but before you board. it lets you shoot at the crew of the enemy ship so you can kill them before you board. some people shoot cannonballs at the people on the deck, but it takes a lot more effort. with the grape shot all you have to do is point your cannon at around the level the enemies are standing and hit shoot. you damage up to 3 people at one time. it comes in useful when you're boarding a ship that will have high level people on it.

Just to let you know, I've used my grape shot today several times boarding ships, and it works just the same as beta :) But you might already be there by now :p lol

Don't be using firebrand to clear lower lvl ships.

It tends to sink them due to the damage over time applied by the burning.

I just cannonball the crew, 3 cannonballs usually throw down about 300 dmg each one for a crew memeber, thats 900 total approx.

I think there is still a bug in the way crew appear. I beat down a Greyhound flag ship and,after I had grappled it, switched to my grapeshot. I killed the guy at the helm, but the next guy that appeared ran out over the water out of range.

Even though the ship said level 12, when I finally ran out of time and boarded the ship, four level 18 soldiers appeared on deck and finished me off before I could do anything.

thats so weird, i got grape shot 2 days ago, and i went to the cannons/gun shop and is said when i went to buy the cannon balls for it 'Need Grape Shot' I just bought it though

Had you ever used it?

Maybe you were at max # of shots (50 I think) and the nag message was wrong (should have said your inventory was maxed, not that you lacked the skill).

Fire off a couple and see if you can buy a 'group' of grape shot then. Do not forget to /bug report it so that the devs can work on it.
