Say they stop fliming the POTC movies now. How would it effect the game? What happened if they went through all the chapters? Would they shut it down or make different story lines? :bookishfj7:

POTCO is a really fun game I feel it will live for a very long time....love potco :D

I do not believe anything will happen once they finish making the POTC movies...

My own personal quote on Imagination -

^ True, but how long could they keep it up?

Like any MMO, or any game for that matter, they'll keep it going so long as there's still a strong following...

Adding to it is easy enough so long as it still fits within the time period...a very good example would be Star Wars...look at all the books that came out to fill in the gaps between the original 3 movies...then the books that came after A New Hope (SW:VI)...and of course the cartoons, etc that filled in the Clone Wars from the 3 prequels...

You can even see how stuff was added into the other POTC games...so long as you still use the key players, introducing new places as well as enemies is as simple as imagining them...creating a back story, then adding it in...

For as long as they want to keep it up. It's really not that difficult to come up with ideas for the game itself and they do not have to follow the movies.

if you guys seen the 3rd movie, it says they are planning to head to the fountain of youth. there is going to be a fourth movie. what you guys should be wondering what will be added to the game because of that. maybe we could go to the fountain of youth? maybe there will be a new quest? who knows?

I've known that for a LONG time now, but isn't the game set between the 2nd and 3rd movies? So what does all of this have to do with after the 4th movie? They will keep going even after the 4th movie simply because it didn't start with the 3rd movie. Yes it came out around the same time, but it was mainly set between the 2nd and 3rd movies for all I know. For all we know, it could keep going and going.

The movies earn lots of money! They might keep it up.

Pirates movie is already on the making and its suppossed to come out next year on may 20(but may be postponed) on 3d, IMAX 3d and regular theaters. Name of movie is- Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

They probably would stop including very many interactions with pirates from the movies..... Even though they have pretty much none now. It shouldn't, and I hope it doesn't, change this game very much.

4th movie coming, so POTCOs plot should go to the 3rd movie. Davy Jones, the Kraken (dare I say it...), and some other pointless stuff that will be added. Then, another POTC movie will come, moving POTCOs plot to the 4th movie. And so on...

My advice: Stop posting these cynical "End of POTCO" threads. This isn't VMK, it is based off a very popular (and high-income) franchise. It won't disappear one morning, with no warning. If it ends, it ends; but I highly doubt it will be wiped off the face of the Earth any day soon. Also, being pessimistic is never as fun as being optimistic.

If memory serves, both Depp and Rush have contracts to do 2 more POTC movies, the 4th being the one that comes out next year which is about the Fountain of Youth...

As for the game, again developers can really add in whatever they wish to...they aren't constrained by the movies on the horizon...

Remember, this game ran during the time between the 3rd, and the announcement of the 4th, where no other POTC movies were being anticipated. Therefore, if they stopped filming POTC movies, then the movement of the game would be.. well, pretty much the same.

Remember, the only part of the game that has to deal with actual movie elements, is a few locations, a few characters, and a few enemies. Other than that, this game is solely fueled on ideas made by the devs. So, if POTC movies cease to exist... it would probably be a really long time before POTCO did too. :)

POTC 4 was planned. At the end of POTC 3, Jack has a map to the Fountain of Youth. That's a plain giveaway. :P
