raids on navy, eitc and jolly roger camps?
 
i got this awesome idea the other day. how about the navy, eitc, and jolly roger sets up camps around main islands. if you sailed around port royal for example, you would see a bunch of small towns, some flying the eitc flag, the navy flag, or they would of thunder clouds hovering above them. (one of jolly's camps). if you spot one you would like to raid you would sail in front of it and a green circle would pop up around the camp. if this is the town you want to raid, you press shift. then it would start to load, and you would see your ship sailing close to the camps shore. then ships would sail out and attack you. you would have to sink them before you can get to the shore. once you sink them, several gun turrets open fire. they would be like those in the black pearl. when they are destroyed, you can head to shore. when you are close enough, it would say shift to land. once you press shift, small boats appear off the side of the ship. your crew would board the boats, and row it to shore. then, you and your crew would try to get past the skeletons/navy/eitc walls and people. when you get past those, you storm into the actual camp, witch may consist of barracks, armory, marching grounds, etc. you can head into one of the buildings, and take whatever you want. you can also burn/explode the building when you are done with it. there would be little guards in the "town." when you get to the command center of a camp, there would be a boss. kill him, then burn the command center, then once it burned that captain would have a window saying "leave the town now, or give the crew more time to raid it." if you click "give the more time" the captain would type in how much time left. or you could just leave right then. when there time is up, then the crew returns to the little boats they left on the beach. they would row them back to the ship, then your crew would sail to royal/tortuga/padres. you would only get plunder from the ships and turrets because when you raid the town, the crew takes weapons/gold for them selves. so does the captain.

what do you think?

I like the idea a lot mate; however, I think this would be more appropriate in the form of a Treasure Map. Otherwise it could get pretty chaotic around the islands.

good point, though i don't think you should be able to do it from look out. some forts might be really hard, so you would need more than one ship to attack it. they would need a system so that that ship who first in sails in can decide what other ships can come.

Cool ideas, but likely beyond the scope of the game. And I fear the PotCo would never support any TRUE raiding system.

BUT a Treasure Map concept would be plenty cool and might work.

You could gather your crew then select Treasure Map - Raid. You would then have your map like Seaking's suggestion with spots on the map marked with dark areas. You then TP to those sites and Free a Town or Sack an Outpost. When the boss there is dead - the space is cleared. When the map is cleared - all of the rewards are doled out. They would have to limit the option somehow - or people would do nothing but raid for gold and stuff, etc.
