Bug or just an overheat?

Well, since last week or so, something has been happening with my computer. If I am playing pirates, after an hour or so, my computer shuts down. Just boom, without warning, shuts down. I've had this before, and I think its an overheat, but I'm skeptical. The fan on my computer is working fine, and the vents don't seem to be blocked. I am playing with my laptop on one of those stands, so the air can blow out freely without hitting the desk.

It probably is just something up with my computer, like something in the vents that I cant see, I just want to make sure that its not a bug in the game...

Little help plz?

Here is my equation=
( i used to have that too.. )

Computer + fan = :)

OR

Computer + low battery usage = :D

Also

Computer + ( -Cache) x Low settings = :D :)

well, do you have a laptop or pc?

Tiberius Fireskull 11-06-2010 05:14 AM

Laptop. I think I solved it. I cleaned out the vents, so it should be all good. Mods can close this thread.

I hope that solve your problem Davy, but I have had a few problems lately that look like hardware issues but only occure while playing pirates, which suggests a coding issue.

If anyone is noticing more lock ups, freezes, driver recoveries, or all out black outs or shut downs, log them here so we, and Disney, can spot the trend, if there is one.

On second thought, mods, don't close this thread yet. I have noticed several more freezes and lock-ups. Especially around Rage Ghosts, just for the record. It still overheats, but after a much longer period of time. I just blew into the fan, so I need to use a real air blower. I'll see how that works out.

My guild often gets together and gangs up in the Rage Ghosts and we all experience freezes, lock ups, runtime errors and even the ocassional bsod. Definately some unstable code.

However, keeping your fans and heat sink fins clean is always a good thing!
