drama

first off people for some reason people don't want drama in the guild but why drama brings attention to the guild and expands it. drama keeps the guild from sliding into oblivion. so i ask you do you think drama is bad for a guild?

Chimera Doll 10-14-2010 03:00 AM

It is bad for a guild.
Not only does it split pirates apart but it causes confusion and the huge possibility of one pirate or more leaving the guild.
I don't see how it can be a good thing for usually when it happens the whole guild is effected by it one way or another. Drama free is the way to go!

Red Nations 10-14-2010 03:03 AM

Yep Drama has destroyed a lot of good guilds.

Delirious 10-14-2010 03:04 AM

I agree with Chimera. Drama is not a good thing for a guild.

The only attention drama brings to a guild in my opinion is negative attention.

Jack Shipsteel 10-14-2010 03:05 AM

Guilds are formed to escape the drama and form good friends.

If you want drama, take a trip to Abassa Tortuga.

I think that you may have Drama confused with being social. Being social is very good for guilds, as it keeps members happy. Drama is bad, because that usually means arguments, which is bad, no explanation needed.

Unless the members involved in the drama and/or any other members with a connection to it take something positive away from it and/or come to a conclusion that keep both sides happy/strengthens the relationships on the persons involved.

I don't mind a few guild rivalries - it just means more chances to do some team PVP. However, there is a fine line between game rivalry and personal issues between guilds and their members. Once an issue or dispute crosses over to the personal side, it is only detrimental to a guild.

MacIronhawk 10-14-2010 03:24 AM

It is bad for the guild, and it brings them a horrible reputation. I went into a big guild, when a friend told me about how much the people talked, and how rude the officers were, even though it was a guild of 500 people. I got kicked out because an officer got mad at me during a boss battle for firing at the forts when they told us to stop. They're firing at us... I'm not going to stand back and let us die, fool.

People bring in the tiniest, most insignificant arguments and things to talk about in some guilds that it becomes pointless. You're in a guild where no one likes each other, and silly rumors are spread.

I don't put up with that poo in real life, let alone virtual life. Drama only makes guilds look bad, for me. I tend to stay away from some of the top guilds in the leader boards, because when coming into contact with the guild members they're extremely rude and have nothing nice to say.

Crestshot 10-14-2010 04:12 AM

I shall say this clearly and loudly.

Drama is NOT good for a guild. It causes needless stress on the people in the guild and on the group as a whole. It can and likely will bring the guild a bad reputation, even if they believe they are in the "right". There is no true right side when it comes to these things, so stay out.

I know from first hand experience what drama in the game and in the guild does to you. I've been through too much of it. If I never had to see it again, it would be too soon. Going to bed thinking about the little things in, and I say it again, a game makes no sense, and I don't know why I have ever worried about it. Grey hair in dark hair of someone who isn't old enough to even get it is not fun. If it brings attention to the guild, perhaps it will make it expand with people looking to cause even more trouble. No, I look for quality people to friend and guild, not random people in Tortuga going "Yah, and Jack broke up with me. but he wants me back. but he totally-" blah blah blah. Thanks, but no thanks. Case in point... no drama, please.

I actually should share a story... there was a guild, not saying names, that I knew somewhat well. I knew a few members from it. It was a small guild but was growing extremely fast, and was active, and a wonderful guild. I would have never thought it would fall. Then, from what I heard at least, there were two people in the guild dating, who had a bit of a messy breakup, as far as messy goes in a game. It wouldn't have been too bad, except one accused the other of dating another person in that guild. Then it was all out war in the guild. Members began to leave because of the drama and anger. Soon enough, the poor guildmaster couldn't take any more of it, and left. She left an officer in charge, but of course, that will never last. The head officer had to leave the guild soon afterward.

I am positive that if it weren't for that, that guild could have easily become a large and well-known guild by now. That is what drama does to guilds.

Yes drama is bad for any guild. As was mentioned in another post you might be confused between drama and being social, there is nothing wrong with a social outgoing guild but a guild filled with drama usually means the end of it.

I have been playing for about 2 1/2 years now and have been in many guilds the #1 reason for pirates leaving a guild or for the guild to fall apart is drama.

Robmac7777 10-14-2010 05:13 PM

Attempting to steer my ship safely after taking hits from a Behemoth on the left, and a Corsair on the right, keeping afloat and saving the Loot. That's about as much Drama as I care for in POTCO.

I am in agreement with everyone else, drama is not good for a guild at all.
