Disney's Fear?

I dont mean to mess/bother with Disney but uh.... Sense they havent put any davy jones or kraken or barely jolly roger, and there just doing stuipid stuff like zombie animations and dumb fart potions...Do you think there afraid to put it out? i mean like, if they think they will put it out that everybody will get bored with it (which idk it might happen if they do put it out)?or are they trying to keep it a game like toontown? idk im probably wrong, but what do you think? OH AND AWESOME NEW ISLAND!thats probably the coolest thing they put out sense 2007 launching ur ship on a dock,oh wait.......THEY TOOK THAT PART OUT. :|

I agree it is pretty boring at times, and even things like adding Raven's Cove seems endless for the small payoff it provides for the gamer, such as yourself. You nailed it when you asked straight out if the follow-through is there on seeing the major characters and the elusive Kraken. We all feel your pain. My thoughts lead me to believe that as much as I want these things yesterday, the fact remains that it is a huge undertaking, and it involves more than merely spreading one's imagination out for others to play within, exist upon, interface throughout, etc, duh blah blah blah, whatever. You get where me head's at me hearties. Aye, me thinks yous does. Anyone sailing? Look for me Jack Treasurehound, pround Member of Spania.

Yes sometimes they do stall with some unneeded updates and news releases, but that always builds up to something big, like Raven's Cove. But I've seen ye to be pondering over the Kraken and Jones... nothing personal mate, but enjoy the other updates as they come.

I doubt that very much think about it, you are saying that Disney doesn't want to put out new material because people might get bored with it? What's the point in having a game then? That makes no sense at all people are bored with the game now, if Disney had new stuff ready to go they would put it out.

Thats a story quest. Not chapter. I am guessing that the next chapter will be at least as long as the first one, and will hopefully have the quest interaction that the Raven's Cove one does.

You can't be serious. According to your theory, every four years, we get a new chapter, and that's why we haven't seen chapter two yet? -- Four years isn't coming up for another couple of months?:laughks2:

I subscribed for 6 months so unless they start adding more quests and chapters I'll be canceling after my 6 months is up.

I've only been playing for a month and I've already completed the Black Pearl story and part of Raven's Cove.

It's pretty obvious that most of the new elements included with this new story quest are going to come in Chapter 2. And no, the story chapter seems to be coming within the next few months, especially with how this one ended (The "Evil Curse of Doom", most likely, or similar to, the Black Spot - if you know what that leads to). And finally, you misunderstood what Davy Fireskull said. He said it will be at least as long as the Black Pearl Chapter and did NOT say it would take as long as it did to come: If that's what you meant.

Speaking of the Check Hand emote, it's literally called EMOTE_BLACKHAND in the files.

Please remember about the Kraken and Jones... this game was supposed to come out to promote Pirates 2 and 3... It was LATE and even then they weren't done.

For some reason, they still kept promising the Kraken, I guess to keep players coming back. But, after At World's End - they killed Kraken off. Our characters are stuck in a timeline between the 2nd and 3rd movies. Now, here comes POTC4. So, now what?

This would be like playing in the Star Wars Universe after Episode IV and before Hoth. We KNOW where the story is going, but our characters are stuck. Trust me, after 3 years - nothing they can do with the Kraken that will make it equal what you've been imaging.

I would say if they are imagineering Chapter 2, it needs to get us beyond the old timeline restraint, so throw out a lot of preconceived ideas mates. Supposedly Disney's Online division has a new boss - I'm hoping this is a GOOD thing.

Disney Interactive now has 2 bosses. Disney named James Pitaro and John Pleasants as Co-Presidents of the Disney Interactive Media Group (DIMG). They are replacing Steve Wadsworth who stepped down in September. This follows a move by Disney to acquire nearly a billion dollars in assets designed to strengthen their position in on-line content, gaming and social networking.

Pitaro come from Yahoo where he was the head of several of the website’s most popular sections, Finance, News and Sports. Pleasants was the CEO of social game developer Playdom and will continue in that role now that Disney has recently purchased Playdom for just over $700 million.

Pitaro and Pleasants are taking over DIMG at a troubled time. The LA Times claims that DIMG has been a “financial burden” to Disney and that “Wall Street has grown impatient.” The article goes on to cite that both Pixie Hollow and Pirates Online are less successful than anticipated. Club Penguin is, in essence, carrying much of Disney Interactive on its shoulders.

The most interesting point in the news release is the lack of reference to Pirates Online:

The games group will include such popular online virtual worlds as Club Penguin and World of Cars as well as console and mobile titles.

The omission of Pirates Online from Disney’s official press release might be just that. An omission. Time will tell.

I really believe that the only thing Disney is afraid of is losing money.
