Whats a Boss Battle?
Just got that for quest, but have no idea what to do.
Gibbs said {Complete Boss Battle and Recover the Black Pearl.} Sank a 44 EITC Frigate and got 202 points, nice. |
A "boss battle" is typically a quest to defeat a very large enemy, and it usually requires a team of several players working together to defeat. In Toontown, examples of boss battles are the VP, the CFO and the CJ.
I'm not sure, but I'm starting to suspect that Disney hasn't finished creating the boss battle for the Black Pearl yet. The text you saw is probably just a placeholder -- they'll add more detailed instructions once they finish developing it. |
Thanks
I've certainly fought enough bosses in toontown.I paid for the year for $79.00 and asked where to download the game. They said it will release later this fall, guess we're still beta tester's.
Guess I'll go back to working on my weapons. |
The boss battle is clickable from the journal screen. Once your reach that part in the main quest, there is a button at the top, if I remember correctly, to press. It is where you steal back the Black Pearl (though it was seriously buggy).
After I completed it, a split screen came up saying stay tuned for future expansions or something to that nature. A quest then popped up to visit some person on Padres, which I did. That appreared to be the end as nothing else has came up. The journal says 100% complete for the Black Pearl Chapter as well. |
Is not in the journal, just all the other stuff I did,the rum and ship there all still there.I have it on track and left it there when I couldn't find it in the journal

I think the options to play (either alone or agaianst another player) were missing for a while, but appear to be showing up like they should now.
However, "Boss Battle" is a lame term for it. There is no battle (at least not when you play it alone). Unless its bugged and not working correctly, the whole thing is one sided (you never have to fear that your character will be defeated) and there is no challenge at all except in finding the "Goliath's" area of vulnerability. I kept thinking the whole time that something was wrong with the game (and maybe there is). As it plays right now, the Boss Battle is monotonous (boring even) and lacks any real challenge. |
I also just won the Boss Battle.
Open journal and click on the task to get the black pearl. Two button appear on the journal. "Fight Boss Battle now" and "Look for Boss Battle" Click on the Battle now and it will take us to a cutscene where we offer paper to two dumb navy guards and then we steal a frigate(?). Then we are taken to a new scene where we are on the ship ready to steer it. At this point there are four stages: 1. Steer the ship toward the three Navy light frigates 2. Use our cannon to sink one of the ship. The other two seem to be automatically sunk, and i couldn't use broadside to sink them as it won't let me take the wheel during this stage. 3. After all three ships sunk, destroy the drawbridges that block your way. There are 5 bridges but we only have to destroy 4 as bridge 1 and 2 are connected. We can use canon or broadside to destroy them. Took about 50+ round canon or 20+ broadside to destroy one side of the bridge each, so it's rather boring. And the canon from the fort don't damage our ship so ignore them. 4. Last one is the Navy Goliath (lvl 38 War frigate). I couldn't use broadside or canon to attack this ship, only Ramming Speed can damage it. Took 7 ram to bring her down, and the Goliath's canon also didn't do any damage to my ship. Too easy i think, unless the fort's canon and Goliath can make any damage to our ship then we might need to crew up to win this Boss Battle. |
I tried ramming speed several times and it never did work for me just as the broadsides didnt have any affect. I then tried cannons and was about to give up thinking something was wrong when I hit a spot that seemed to cause a little damage to the Goliath. I hit that same spot over and over and over and over (and about half the time it didnt do any damage), til it finally sunk . I have to say, it was a let down for me, as I fully expected not to be able to win the first time. And with very little challenge, there was very little satisfaction after it was over.
