Hook, Line, and Sinker!

Captain Xavier Hench and the Marceline Guild are big fishing fans! There's nothing they like more than a warm day, new fishing poles and some catchy lures. Now they are inviting you to join in the fun! This weekend, the Marceline Guild will be at the docks on Port Royal and Tortuga, helping Pirates learn to fish and of course, telling big fish stories about 'the one that got away'. Don't miss it ... you never know when you may land a fish of Legendary proportions!

WHAT: Hook, Line & Sinker!
WHERE: Docks of Port Royal and Tortuga
WHEN: September 16, 12:00pm to 1:00pm & 5:00pm to 6:00pm
All Times Pacific Time/California

NOTE: See the Fish Masters at the end of the main Port Royal and Tortuga docks to get your first rod and lures.

Another Distraction?

"It will get here when it get's here." Seriously, distraction or not, it gets kind of old when people bring this up, much like they did with the fishing update. Everyone wants them to add more updates, being impatient about it won't change a thing.

On to the actual subject of this thread, it's nice to see them posting more news ("distraction" or not). I probably won't attend, but there are a lot of people who enjoy things like this.

Look, I'm not here to complain mate I just wanna see this new island for me self. I agree it will come when it comes or whatever ye said, but and I'm sure alot of people would agree with me here that a new shrouded island that hasn't even been talked about at a GM Event or in the Grog Blog needs to be mentioned by now.

All i'm saying is, it gets annoying when every news thread has a post calling it a "distraction". It doesn't matter if it's a distraction or not, it's not going to change the date they plan on releasing the island. They'll also have to release news regarding the island sometime, but they'll do that when they're ready to.

I agree. If someone said that every time, here is how it would go.

Pirate #1: Oh look, Raven's Cove came out!
Pirate #2: It's a distraction!
Pirate #1: From what?
Pirate#2: From the Kraken!

Does that sound annoying or what?

The message that I get about people who call Disney's updates a "distraction" is this-

Quote:

"It's another distraction from [enter future update here]!"
"Disney is LAZY! They're trying to distract us from the REAL content because they want to keep the FUN stuff to themselves!"
(I admit that I've called a few updates 'distractions' before too)

This "distraction" is probably a way let new/old players get accustomed to fishing.

What I'm wondering about is this-Just a week ago everybody was grumbling that fishing was not being released soon enough. Now that it's here, those who were grumbling seem to have forgotten about fishing, as if it were there since the game was first released. It's as if they've suddenly gotten tired of it and are now grumbling the same complaints about Raven's Cove.

Personally I like the GM events.
I think it's fun to have them come play with us.

I only wish they would have more GM's for the servers,
so it wasn't such a Nightmare of a Lag Fest when you do find them.

Occasionally they even use this time to 'leak' information.

You can call it a distraction,
but it is interaction with the players..... You don't get that on most other games.

Thanks POTCO for playing the game with us :ahoy:

I've noticed that too, some people I saw were even complaining about having nothing to do because "they mastered fishing so fast." I admit it was nothing major.. but rushing through it doesn't make anything better..

Jamesvsthekraken 09-14-2010 11:11 PM

Well, just to make things clear. I didn't master fishing yet because I knew it would give me something to do. Also, I don't hate these GM Event's, I myself like many others try to ask The GM's about new things in the game like Raven's Cove (the new island) I think we can agree here that we hate waiting especially for new content if it's been over a long period of time, now I am not saying this is over a long period of time. I just wish they would release the new island because I liked someone on here's theory ( I can't remember whose) that guessed that the new island would be on live before or on Halloween 2010. That's why in my opinion it should be on the test game/server right now so it get's plenty of time for testing. :) ;) :bookishfj7::piratewheelgo2:

Meh, I probably wont bother showing up to this event. Its just gonna be lag and people with thought bubbles saying: Please friend me [GM's Name here]! Im your biggest fan!. It is a distraction yes, but it works for a lot of pirates. Most of us on here are the ones that really want all this new content, but what percentage of pirates in the game actually use this forum. Very likely, its less than 1%. Personally, I would like to see the new island ASAP. However I will wait. I have things to do in the meantime....

If they don't do this, it won't come out any sooner, I'm real happy with this rather than nothing.
