all my ideas for potco

right what i have decided to do here is a collection of all my ideas aat the end give your comments improve my ideas and ask any questions or answer any okay first idea

pirate time inventions

there are a lot of inventions invented at the right time that pirates could have used like a hot air balloon and a submarine i think the hot air balloon should have bombs to drop and maybe a small cannon on the front be quite slow low health small carego can go very highand have no broadsides exept for the biggest and the biggest could carry five people at the most the submarines i think should be a little faster than balloons no broadsides hardly any cargo 2 cannons low health the biggest carry three people and they have bombs to strap to a ships hull i think both should have a special rule where if they are hit by a certain type of gun or cannon ammo then they are punctued and have five minutes before they sink and ships would have a defense against them for balloons two extra cannons only for hitting things in the sky and against submarines a below deck cannon pointing down and a lever to drop depth charges please give me your ideas for stats for light normal and war hot air ballons and submarines and names instead of sloop galleon and frigate for stats use broadsides speed cargo shipmates cannons health and height or depth (height for hot air balloons depth for submarines to see how far each could go up or down without stopping or dying)

the next ideas i already made a thread about them but here they are again

In the first and third movies you see jack in a dinghy I think not only would this be fun but it could be very useful also it should be always availible to all players even if you are just out of jail for sinking one you could without fixing it sail off with another one
uses could be
1.if you have lost all your ships you could sail off in a dinghy
2.you could even access them from a ship to access another in the fleet (my next idea)
possible stats

crewmates 1/2
cargo 0/1
cannons 0/1
speed 3/4/5
health 500
broadsides 0

fleets
my idea for this is if at sea you see another player ship you click on it and select add to fleet you could talk to the fleet using fleet chat and could keep track of them on your sea map
uses could be
1.talking to other ships in a giant battle you have organised against the navy
2.if you are looking for a particular ship and your friend finds it on a seperate ship you see where they are on the map and go to help them

powder keg
in the second movie you saw them use kegs against the kracken
in potco in a fight on a ship you could go up to a keg and it would say press shift to push overboard if you press shift you see your pirate pushing the keg overboard the keg floats towards the enemy and blows up either when you shoot it or it hits an enemy but the owner would have to buy kegs for his ships and in svs other players could shoot the keg when it is next to your ship
uses could be
1. against an enemy your cannons seem to do nothing use a keg to do some decent damage
2.against many ships launch a keg and when its in the middle of them shoot it to cause damage to all the ships

ship stealing my idea for this is just before a ship sinks occasionally a green circle appears on the mast even though you already have the treasure if a cannoneer hits the circle with a grapple hook they leave the rest of the crew behind along with their share of the plunder on the deck of the sinking ship most enemies are fleeing you kill the remaining enemies and sail it back to a port then you can get the shipwright to fix it you then go to a dinghy select stolen and select your new ship but pirates can sink it because it is stolen and if it sinks the plunder comes from the captains pocket and you can also find enemies on it occasionally but you can get close to npc ships and they dont attack you and you can attack pirates but if it sinks you cant fix it
uses
1. getting better ships
2. disguise
3. fun

my next idea is weather what happens is you see wind blowing stuff about and rain getting things wet but you can also get damaged by weather like when lightning hits your ship it takes damage and whirlpools suck your ship in and if it hits the middle your ship sinks
uses
1. fun
2. making sea battles down to luck as well as skill

my next idea is a telescope if you want to see a bad guy who you can hardly see because he is far away or you want to see any enemie you cant see normally get the telescope out like a normal weapon and it does its job different telescopes have different levels of zoom

now trading this idea is you see a pirate and click on him and one option is offer to trade if he accepts you offer an item or some gold and he offers something in return if you both agree and press the trade button you swap those items

getting below decks or to the crows nest on a ship the uses of these would be below deck you can access the antisubmarine cannon and depth charges and see the cargo and throw it over board and in the crows nest you can see slightly further than normal so it would be useful and could be used with my telescope idea

and now for my next idea everyone knows about highway men they were at about the same time as pirates so we could rob stage coaches and stuff

now player and guild flags a player near the start of the game would make their own flag to be shown with their name and above their ship to identify them a guild would also have a flag so people could spot its members at a glance

and this is my final idea a guild house and guild war system each guild could have three houses (forts) at most on different islands and as well as chatting in the guild house you could have mini guild wars that happen if both guild leaders agree all guild members are told and must take over enemy forts while protecting your own it ends when one guild has lost all its forts but as well as fighting each other on land to if one fort is on a different island the guild members might have to fight at sea just to get to the island if you win your guild gets money from the enemy guild members or a guild fund a guild fund could be used to by defenses (cannons new forts extra walls npc guild soldiers) but with this idea as well as a player flag a guild would have to have a flag for these fights to, mark their ships members and soldiers with

tell me what you think of my ideas and answer and ask questions about them and improve on them.

These are some good ideas. The only one I don't agree with are hot air balloons and subs.

Captain Jason 09-14-2010 10:45 PM

same as nate here.

They all sound like pretty good ideas, except for a few. First of all, there were no hot air balloons and submarines in the 1600s (that is when our game takes place right?). The first submarine was probably sometime in WWI, not including the Nautilus from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Also, we should not be able to "steal" enemy ships. If we could, then we would have level 7's sailing around in a war frigate. When I was around that level, and basic mind you, I was able to sink a Phantom using just a light galleon. Wasn't too hard. This would make it to easy to get a powerful ship, and would take away some excitement. Remember how psyched you were when you got your first War Frigate? With ship stealing, that would be gone. Lastly, NO GUILD WARS! We already have a lot of dumb and mean guilds out there, that seem to live to make other guilds and players miserable. Guild wars would be nothing but problems. Nobody likes drama, unless your some insane player that likes to make others miserable, and this would only bring more. However, if there was some form of Guild vs. Guild PvP or Treasure Map, I would be okay with that... as long as it is all friendly.

Other than that, you have some good ideas.

sorry but

im not trying to be horrible but a lot of your facts and impressions of my ideas are wrong even though i probably didnt say them right so sorry if it sounded bad but here are the corrections

yes the idea i had was some form of guild pvp and the guld didnt have to do it if they didnt want to because i said [B]both[B]guild leaders had to agree

im not trying to be horrible there was but for subs there was two a drebbel sub in 1620 and one called the turtle not long after both easily in the age of pirates and all operators survived
and hot air balloons the first one was in the 1700's still in the age of pirates

but as i say im not trying to be horrible i just want to sort some things out

No subs, because of the basic fact that we just can't, doesn't go into the timeline, why would we go in a sub anyways?

Same with hot air balloons, we don't have a machine that creates fire in this time period, plus why would we be in the air?

Captain Del 09-15-2010 11:49 PM

The game takes in between Movies 1 and 2, with the entire series taking place roughly at the end of the Golden Age of Piracy, which, to most historians, ended circa 1726. The first submarine considered to actually be a submarine was created in 1620 by Cornelius van Drebbel, who was able to keep the thing submerged with a crew of 12 in the Thames River for 3 hours straight. However, the first submarine to be used in battle was the Turtle, in 1776, although it failed miserably. The first hot air balloon flight, manned by an actual person, took place in 1783. Just thought I would clear that up.

Pirates would have no real use for a submarine or hot air balloon anyway. After all, it's not like we could have the ability to shoot broadsides underwater, and dropping lowly grenades from the sky wouldn't do enough damage before we were shot down by a rogue cannon ball.

All other ideas, I like :)

The only reason a submarine would be any good to us would be to ram boats from underneath them. The sub would come up at an angle and ram into the bottom of the ship, causing it to break, and sink fast. The Nautilus did this in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and it sunk the ship fast... I still dont want subs at all, but I think it would be priceless to see the look on a Navy sailors face when they see my sub coming up from under them. xD

True dat:laughks2::pirate2wn0:
good ideas but why the hot air ballons?
Subs would be fun if they were big u could have a high level crew member throw a seige charge into the boat and blow it up
