Jack's Musical Corner
I'm sure a few people probably noticed I've still been lurking lately, and I thought I would share why. I've been working on updating my Userpage here at POF to show partially why I left and haven't been here near as much as I used to be. Recently I acquired a program known as Finale, which allows me to compose and arrange music for various ensembles.
Why? Well... I enjoy music very much so, and while not my original reason for leaving (that shall be left unstated), it is the reason I decided not to return to my position as a mod. As I still am a member of the community here, and it is nice to share some of your talents with the communities that you are a part of, I thought I would share mine. I have written either for practice, or for local ensembles in the area that have requested me to do so. As for the page itself... It's not got much to it right now. It has a very outdated banner which I plan to replace, restates the above paragraph, explains my status of copyright and ownership, and has only on of my original works. I will be adding more original works in due time, but for legal reasons will be withholding all arrangements at this time. I know this may not interest everyone, but I will say that I do write a wide variety of music that is open to a wide audience of people. I have written Marching Band Arrangements, Chamber Orchestra Arrangements, and even a few Piano Ballads as of to date. I do plan to write other styles too (maybe break into some good ol' rock), but yet lack the knowledge needed to write for guitar and such yet. So, without further ado, my Music page: http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...in&userid=2653 Note: There is a disclaimer on my userpage regarding the legal copyright status of these works. All arrangements are not held under a copyright by myself and are therefore the rightful property of those who own legal copyright. I do hold copyright to my works under Title 17 -> Chapter 2 -> Section 201 of the U.S. Code, but hold no legal documents as of yet to verify copyright. I have my works under a creative commons license in which you are free to redistribute my works, under the conditions that A.) I am accredited with being the original author of the work, and B.) The work is not altered, transformed, or built upon. |
I am glad to see you around and to see you doing what you are passionate about. Keep up the good work.

I really like your work! Sounds like a cool program. :D I have always been interested in creating my own music but never get the time to go forth with it.

Just a slight update:
(Yes, I will post an update everytime I add/change/remove something, wouldn't want anyone actually following this to miss out :pirate2: ) I have added a small sample of the 2nd Movement. Finally got an idea for it this afternoon - at the expense of listening to my teachers - and started working today. Very happy with it, hope you'll enjoy it as well. |
I like them both. Great job, Jack.

Great Work, mate. :)
Again, you did a fantastic job mate. :) :buds::bookishfj7::piratewheelgo2::pirate_flag:

Added one new piece to the page this evening. It's a project I've had to work on for my first live performance where I'm actually running the show. Playing a Jazz show for a local school Mardi Gras celebration, and felt the urge to write my own improv piece for it. There's the stock charts and a variation with some solos added in, so go see what you think.
P.S. There are some arrangements on the way for the Holiday season, so stay tuned for that... :Hcool: |
Good job Jack!

Just in time for December I have another sample up. Being around the same marching band most of my life, I've really kind of gotten the holiday musical blues, one might say. After all, you can only listen to the same melody of carols being played for so many years before it gets boring and monotonous. (I was never really fond of the song played to begin with, but the point stands.) That being the case I set forth to write a new one, and out came "Hark the Herald Angels March."
Interesting little tune, not much to say about it aside from it's not done... really, I didn't even have time to snip and fade out the end so you can tell where I'm not done working, parts start dropping and then it will just quit, leaving you with a long blank Quicktime bar playing. :laughks2: In other news, I am still working on the Dreamscape movement's I have sampled on my page. Just gotten a bit of musician writer's block there, and cannot for the life of me decide where to go with that right now. Maybe sometime before the new year. :dancetl6: |
