Faster than Ever

I just got this from Member Services:
Dear James,

Thank you for your interest in Pirates of the Caribbean Online.

Our developers are working as hard as Elizabeth Swann trying to escape from
Barbossa to get the new island released onto our Test Server. Things should be
completed and up on the Test Server as soon as possible. When further
information is known, we'll be posting it on our Web site, so be sure to check
out the Current News on PiratesOnline.go.com often!

We'll see you in the Caribbean soon!

So, "things should be completed and up on the test server as soon as possible." What do you think mates? :) :bookishfj7::piratewheelgo2::psmiley27:

I think, that thats what they always say... cuz that it what they always say... sorry mate, but that really doesnt mean anything...

Captain Del 08-31-2010 01:02 AM

.... That means that they're working hard to get it done, and will be up as soon as possible.

That doesn't mean tonight, or tomorrow, or this week, or next. They'll be done when they're done. Patience is key.

They've never said "As soon as possible on the test server" to me before when I asked them about Raven's Cove or other things in the game etc. I think they want to get fishing out to Live as soon as possible so they can get Raven's Cove on The Test Server the week of or the week after Fishing comes to Live.

Your probably right James, but on that same note, they cant release an update thats crawling with bugs. As Del said, they have to take their time.

MacIronhawk 08-31-2010 01:18 AM

I'd give it about a week or two after fishing hits open, but that's just me. They're probably trying their hardest so that it will hit open before October, or during october, for the third year of POTCO.

Tiberius Fireskull 08-31-2010 01:28 AM

Hopefully before the third year of POTCO

Jamesvsthekraken 08-31-2010 01:29 AM

Aye, I agree.

We have to assume that the amount of bugs with the island and quest are at least as many as there have been with fishing, because something this big probably won't come bug free.

Now, let's assume that it's a worst case scenario, and it takes two months before it hits open. Let's now assume that it comes out... september tenth. The longest we'd have to wait is about November.

That's assuming the worst case scenario, remember, so if we get real lucky, we could see this either in late September on open, or in the middle of October.

That's assuming a lot of key factors, though. I mean, if there are literally no bugs at all, for all we know they could release it a week after it's been on test. But that's unlikely.

It's really hard to say in a situation like this, as there's only been one on huge quest like this before.

You can download the game engine that does pirates online for free and try your hand out yourself at how much work goes into this stuff. I dont envy them. They have been doing a ton of updates this year... be patient... at least with its sitting there on the test server. We know that at some point it will be a reality. I can also tell that a lot of the improvements that they have been doing probably has a lot to do with that island in the long run like higher levels and more weapons. But that is just a guess.

Tiberius Fireskull 09-03-2010 01:29 AM

I'm not saying it will happen with this update, and it hopefully wont, but do you think that they ever might cancel an update because there were just too many unfixable bugs? Its highly unlikely, but it could happen with a really big update.
