There is hope for the Kraken!
 

Ok, so I was bored, so I was doing a little digging through the Developers' Diary on the Site. I came across an entry made by Vince, the Community Manager over at POTCO head-quarters. It said:

This is very old news, and it's always possible their plans have changed. Even if it does become the next chapter, "more than worth the wait"? I think not..

Three Years...
 

Three years (well maybe two since I started playing around I think Late January or Early February of 2008) playing Pirates Online have taught me something. When Disney says "coming soon, coming very soon, very soon, or well worth the wait." then it basically means another long time of waiting. I don't count on it anymore. Anyway, Disney has said,teased,and even promoted that The Kraken was or is coming to the game very soon or soon for more than 2 years now. All I can say here is, I will believe "it is well worth the (3 years now) wait" when it see it on the test game. :bookishfj7::piratewheelgo2:

I remember seeing that, and they even said they planned on having it before the end of 2009. Obviously, that didn't happen.

It's not worth the wait at all, actually. It really doesn't matter how fun the quest will be, or how good a Kraken boss battle will be, it's been too long for it to really matter.

Raven's Cove seems worth the wait, what with new ghost enemies and all, but not the Kraken. Unless it involves Davy Jones and the Flying Dutchman, there's no way it could be an actual "good" story quest, or better than saving the Pearl.

hmm i can see where alot of u r coming from waiting for it for about 3 years or less is forever really but in a way even tho ur not happy with the kracken now u might be when u see it (if u see it that is) maybe if ur still mad at it u be able to kick its butt haha

Not really, considering story quests are pretty short.

Waiting for three years for something that you'll finish in two months isn't worth it. When it all comes down to it, I'm wasting more time waiting for things that will entertain me, than getting the time to be entertained.

If there was content that could keep me busy for three years, and it took only two months of development, I'd be happy. But unfortunately, it's the other way around.

I know they cant release the kraken untill the second chapter because if it was released now it would be all in a mix and all.

Kraken? Chapters?
 

This is one of the single biggest reasons WHY there's been no chapter 2.

I don't think they can make the Kraken work without major crashing, but since they had promised the Kraken - they kept laboring to make it work.

But, now we get a new island and what appears to be a very big new quest maybe even a whole new chapter coming - WITHOUT it.

To whoever decided to put the big beast aside and give us more story - THANK YOU!!

I couldn't agree more. I would have preferred a few more chapters to the story over an over-hyped kraken. Even if it does get added, nothing is worth this long of a wait.

Agreed totally EC. I can see how there would be a whole ton of bugs with the Kraken. As much as I would love to see the Kraken, I am sure now that it wont be worth the wait. Not at this point. I just want a new story chapter, like EC said.

I just continue to believe and hope that the Phase Files are POTCO Trash Can. And that The Kraken never ever comes.

I agree with eliza it may still need to be work on because there could be alot of bugs.

Actually, I have heard rumors that the Kraken and the next story chapter are finished, and they are just waiting for the right time to release it. I know I know "Now is the right time!" No, its not. POTCO is following a story line right now. El Patron, El Patron's Lost Weapons, and Raven's Cove, etc. If they just dropped it in right now it would be too random. I think that it should be coming out after Disney finishes the story they are making with El Patron, or they will somehow tie it in.

Again, I can wait. I'm perfectly content with the game right now as it is, and I want them to take their time.... but not too much time!

the same reason for every complant is that disney is a film company it is not a company that is based on its online worlds. Also potco was disigned as a step up from toon town for some reason disney sticks with that and adds mini games insted of what people want. the only real solution is for disney to put more money into one of walt disney's ideas instead of a creation of someone who not many people care about no offence to who ever thought up toon town.
