Question for the mods...

I'm wondering if it's allowed to post a like certain image, for like a siggy KINDA, for each type of post, kinda like signature people, but WITHOUT paying.... for example I put this down with each post. But don't pay, is that allowed?

I think that kinda defeats the purpose of subscribing to keep the forum alive and well. It's like taking something you didn't pay for.

could be considered spam I think.. not sure

Plus you can only have a certain number of images posted(if not a paying member), lets say its 8 different places ...every time you ran out, you would have to delete the images from previous posts you have posted

That might only be Attachments.... And I See Your Excellent point Del.

My Lurking has Ended! So Bye!!!! P.S. IBY is in effect....:D

Fake signatures are allowed to be used in posts, so long as they adhere to the same policies regarding signatures (No larger than 500 x 200), as well as all other site policies. There's no rule against it, you just have to be willing to take the time to manually add it to the post yourself.

Wait! What?

The why should one pay a subscription that allows the postage of a Signature?

So that you don't have a bunch of people ignoring you for posting the fake signature, usually. This would be mainly for quoting.

I tend to not quote people with fake signatures, and if I happen to quote someone with a fake signature, go back, because I don't want to waste my time taking the image out of my post.

But I've gotten bored of taking it out of my posts, so I usually leave the fake sig in the post. I just get tired of wasting my time here to edit someone's post when I got to quote them.

Thanks Jack I. Glad that was cleared up. Honestly I don't mind adding the Image Location of the one I like down here... perfectly fine with me.

You only have so much space for images, so it's your choice.

Not if I copy the Image Location and then post. That takes no space.

I wounder if I should start doing that....

The Skirata Clan 08-27-2010 01:34 AM

I now wonder if I should renew my subscription once it reaches its end.

Jack I 08-27-2010 04:37 AM

The subscription is mainly for your convenience and to show your support to the site. With the subscription you are:
  1. Given a reward for donating to recieve a signature subscription
  2. Given the ability to set up your signature to post itself to each post.
  3. Making it more convenient to users: When using a fake signature, the user has to take it out of quotes when they quote you.
  4. Making it more convenient on the mod staff. If your fake signature does break a policy, we have to go back and find every instance you used that signature and delete it. It's more convenient to them if you have the subscription so they can simply ask you to change/remove it.

Plus, there are all those other rewards you can get from subscriptions that you can't get by faking it, including the larger PM boxes, userpages, and subscription awards.

As regarding support for the site, remember that each time you do donate you are doing a favor to Nick. The server for the sites, as well as the licensing and other necessities to keep the site running aren't free, and most of that is paid for with the donations that we receive through subscribers. All of that money is fed directly to the upkeep of the sites, so it really is nicer for people wishing to use a signature to subscribe. :pirate2:
