Too Little for so Long

It is only a fact that this summer, we have seen more mini games added into the game than we have seen more progressive updates. We have made potions and shot cannons for the enemy, but will this next mini game be enough. It was stated by disney that we will soon be able to fish on the docks of our main islands, and for a few seconds, we were given a small hint about being able to visit uncharted islands that have arose from shrouds in the sea.

I am beginning to wonder how much longer are we going to have to wait on this near remake of a Toon Town mini game or if it is alone. Will Disney disappoint, or are we going to get more bulk for our buck?

I'm not sure whether they'll disappoint, but they're certainly not giving us "more bulk for our buck". I know fishing is newer content to the game, but it's certainly not going to be a difference maker when deciding whether or not someone plays. If it can be that great (which I doubt it), then it will actually be worth it.

The only way I see this not being a disappointment, if it spells the end of mini-games, and finally leads to the new islands, the next chapter, or anything that gives players a reason to play. Right now majority of the players still play, not because of updates Disney has added (some of those updates have actually made people leave), but because of the friends they've made. That can only make people stay for so long though, meaning Disney has to take their updates to the next level.

So until I play the new mini-game, this is how it looks for me.
Disappointment - more than likely
More bulk for our buck - nope

I logged on last night to play a little and realized that i hadn't played in almost 2 weeks. Treasure hunting is not as much fun as it once was and decent drops rarely happen for me anymore. The cannon game is, to me, simply boring. Space Invaders with boats. Potion making was fun at first but after reaching level 18 I had enough potion making to last me a lifetime.

Fishing? The closest I come to fishing in real life is ordering some with french fries. Maybe the game will be fun but maybe not. The ONLY thing that will get me back to full time playing is a NEW STORYLINE.

I agree, I don't want to keep playing this game if it's going to be like Mario Party or that Toy Story Arcade game for the Wii. I want it to be the way it was before all this "stuff" happened. It was very Pirate-like before. We need that again and we really need those "mysterious" islands, that Disney keeps talking about and then it disappears.:bookishfj7::piratewheelgo2:

I agree James, some of the updates that disney has made are terrible, and it was the small stuff from back when the game was cool that was the foundation of the game. Some of the updates they make, the more the game is less realistic. Before, we had creepy enemies on ships trying to kill us, actually shooting a cannon, and now we just see a cannon being shot automatic. How do you shoot a cannon, or steer a boat for that matter, with nobody on or even close to it?

Where was the cool pirate music at sea, the good music for that matter, I used to think hey this is a great game, everything is awesome, and now I'm thinking hey, there isn't much that is substantial to the game anymore besides the inventory, invasions, and fleets, and its not worth my 10 bucks a month anymore.

They could make good ideas out of whats already in the game, and what was in the game before. Put crew members on enemy ships, and improve the boarding system in the game. Instead of the enemy AI being so straightforward and just attacking, they could have a bit of personality. Enemies could have the choice to ditch their friends to save their own lives if you are strong and intimidating. If you seem to be an equal match, they will still attempt to go face to face with your crew. If you seem weaker, they will attempt to sink you, and even try to board your ship. This could lead to skills that could allow you to look intimidating to get rid of a decent amount of enemies, or make you look like an amatuer due to the shape of your flag.

Not only should any ship be able to board you, but you should be able to board any ship. After reaching about 1/7 of your enemies ship health you should have to choice to ditch, board and loot, sink, or threaten the enemy to get better loot. They could also add in the option to drop dud plunders you get off of ships. So much could be added into the game, and it is all mostly part of the game already.

Igor just want a new island with things to do. Igor not understand why the big D can't add more content it seems so easy to Igor. Why not have other people in the taverns wanting things from the outreaching islands? We already have islands that have little to do with the main part of the game. Igor beg D more content plz no more silly mini games :treas:

I like the way you think. I'd love that. Personally, I think that if they add ship customization and/or player-owned forts/houses/towns to the game, when you win against a flag-ship, you should be able to 'salvage' its parts to use in your own construction.

Easy? Creating a Game ain't easy until i see some kinda online game taht Igor is running i don't see how any of you can be begging for more things it takes time mates be pacient( ik i spelled that wrong)

Raikel 07-27-2010 03:17 AM

Soon enough I will be making my own games on my own system. I will surely have it ready in a few years, and I am doing it to improve on the fact that online games are limited, and that Pirate-related gaming is very minimal. I like the ideas that POTCO comes up with, but they are very minimal, and sometimes lead to other bugs that mess up other aspects of the game. If I see that POTCO's new fishing system look exactly similar to the system on ToonTown and I do not see a new island, then I will simply not be renewing my subscription until I do believe enough mature content is added into the game.

I do not see why I would want to go fishing in this game when I could be playing almost any other game aand actually doing something that actually benefits my character and his skills. I simply cannot play a game that has you level up with Potions that you make out of puzzles.

Igor say OK. Igor say wife is Pro developer for **** a 3D online chat. Igor say she meshes and textures. Igor say it looks and runs five times better than pirates... Igor say and further more Igor ask for more content, the game is there do more with it. Igor say use the environments that are in place, more quests from a re textured guy in PR that sends you out to get poisoned stinger from Isa Perdida or some Natives on the islands that need products from the main island are EASY, especially if you work for a multi million dollar company. Igor not begging. Igor paying. Now it time for the big D to pay up !!! :piratear:

Jamesvsthekraken 07-30-2010 02:42 PM

Once again we gotta wait another week. I guess Disney won't be making the "monthly" update deadline to the test game this month. -_- -.- :'( :( :/:bookishfj7::piratewheelgo2:
