Is this some sort of typo or weapon mistake?
 

As you can see, they both belong to the same weapon group, and the cutlass has more boosts. I get the cutlass being rare, but the repeater is famed? makes no sense..

Thats just how they class it. They made random weapons famed, rare, and lost relic I guess. I really don't know HOW they decided on this. It would be a good thing to find out though.

It's no typo. There are multiple weapon classes and multiple names. You can get more than one class with one name.

Rarity doesn't really matter, although it just tells you, there will never be a normal orangutan repeater, or famed orangutan cutlass in your case.

The weapons system is overrated. They have Rank 3 sure foot that does the exact same thing as rank 1 sure foot. Healing boost heals maybe 300 health, and certain enemies do 300 points of damage when you are casting the spell. Nothing can help the system, because Pirates still has invasions that glitch up even after they 'found' a patch for them.

The weapons grouping and weapon skills are awesome! I understand that you're finding a problem with the "Relics drought" (though I just got a Seven Seas Cutlass), but what proof is there or not there that there is any difference in the power of various ranks of weapon skills? And healing boost might be a waste when an attack is done of the same magnitude, but it's better than NOTHING!

The card for the Cutlass does not show the gold value of the weapon, this indicates this screen shot was taken while the weapons update was still on the Test server (before appearing on the Live servers). Right before the new weapons went live, an update was made on Test where the attack levels were lowered and some other details were adjusted for many weapons. As a result, you can not rely on the information shown on any card that does not show the gold value.

Unfortunately, I have not found either of these weapons, nor does it seem any of the sites that post weapons have found the newer version of the cutlass either. Hopefully, the new card for this weapon would show it being properly aligned with other weapons, hopefully!

Don't worry, i received the orangutan cutlass 2 weeks ago and it was rare, i just took the picture from the wiki (to lazy to take a screenie from POTCO )
