Calling All Testers! - June 16th, 2010

Attention Testers!

Have you noticed the wave of new cannon turrets going up? We've heard that the Navy will pay you handsomely to test out their new cannons to fight off approaching bandits. Why? They're too afraid to test the cannons themselves, of course! So you're not only allowed inside these Navy forts, you're actually wanted!

If you have access to Test, log in now to take advantage and start testing these shiny, powerful new cannons. Make sure to test:
  • Cannon Defense on all main islands - Port Royal, Tortuga, Padres del Fuego
  • Multiplayer functionality - Play with others or by yourself
  • Test out different cannon ammo on bandit ships
  • Defeat as many bandit waves as possible to beat the game

No self-respesting PIRATE would ever fight on the side of the Navy. And, who are these so called "bandits" anyway? Brethren pirates?

Give me a story line!!!

William ORoberts 06-17-2010 02:15 PM

Yes, they won't let us be in the Navy, but they'll let us work for them to shoot down our own kind...hmmm....

Juliana Maria 06-17-2010 02:44 PM

What kind of twisted scheme is this??? The Navy letting us pirates into their forts and using their artillery? Ummmm... either they forgot how pirates and Navy don't get along, or them Navy are up to something fishy!

No th bandits are just worthless scum who don't care about the code.

Wait... some pirates can form EITC sympathetic guilds, but you have qualms about working for the navy?

Perhaps the ships should have been all skeletons...

Raikel 06-17-2010 04:30 PM

Have to remember its Pirates, these 'Bandits' don't even exist, only their ships thus far. All I know is that we need a patch for this somewhat minor update. It can be fun, but it isn't something I'd play for more than one week straight.

It turns out if you have unlimited, you dont need to have test access to test, the downside is, you have to make a new pirate alot, but you can still play the future of the game early and impress other ppl, just click on the link when the calling all testers news is up

I like the tower, not the approach. Maybe a different setup. Are these cannons a mini game or part of a quest?

As of right now, no one knows. It's just cannon defense. I guess it could be considered a mini game, but our "Navy Cannon" also levels up when playing it, too.

Doing cannon defense quests in the future may be possible, but all it is now is for fun.

So if you have an Unlimited account, you can get on the Test server even without an invite? How do you do this?

Well, I can appreciate the time and effort that went into developing this new phase, however, it is just an arcade shooting game and really has no real-time action for the pirate adventure. Time better spent sinking EOTC and Navy ships and defeating blaggards such as Jolly and the like. Just my two doubloons.

:)

I assume the Navy is letting us use their cannons so they can see how they work - or if any adjustments are required. They'll probably end up using said cannons against us in the future once they see the cannons are working properly.

Edit: I forgot to add: Wouldn't the "Bandits" not be on the pirates' side? Not saying they're against us or on the Navy's side, but wouldn't they be a side of their own?

Ropeburn 06-23-2010 12:11 AM

so anyone got a photo of it yet???

Raikel 06-23-2010 03:59 AM

We should be able to do this with friends against other friends. Except we set out our own ships we set courses for, or sail ourselves. I was thinking we should be able to sink our pals or be knocked down by their barrels and control ships that go out to gather treasure. A much more updated game of SvS which is more like Isle vs Isle.
