Comparison of loot drops between boss and regular targets

Percentage of drops based on 500 sample of each type
Regular Target :skull: Boss Target
No drop 60.5% :skull: 8.3%
Loot pouch 29.5% :skull: 49.2%
Loot Chest 7.9% :skull: 31.8%
Skull Chest 2.1% :skull: 10.6%

Pirate is fully mastered level 50 used a swashbuckler blunderbuss.

Regular targets were seabeards, molusks, thrall captains, urchinfists and stumps.

Boss targets were Darkhart, Timothy Dartan and Neban the Silent.

Side note two famed weapons were found on seabeards. Bosses only rare weapons and good gold.:cat5:

Which famed weapons were they? Good Chart btw.

Nice chart mate. It seems the seabeards have been giving great stuff. I have a friend who got the lost sword from one.

I got a Famed Relic, The Corsair Cutlass, from a level 28 Flotsam. General Hex was dropping at 100% for me the other day. Spent about an hour there.

Nice chart. To be truly scientific, a group of pirates should do every enemy available. From Gravediggers and Ensigns to Thrall Captains and Assassins and from Ferrets to Dreadnoughts. Whoa...even thinking about that makes it seem like a lot of work. An amazing number of variables. Living or undead? Animal? Level of pirate? Type of weapon? Level of weapon? Time of day in game or real life? And...Never mind.

My hat's off to 'ya. I don't have the patience for that sort of research. Nice to know that Boss's really DO drop more and better stuff.

Bruiser's Cutlass and Buccanear's Blunderbuss were from seabeards. Going to try other bosses and regular targets soon with my smaller pirates and see if the rates are different.

Very interesting and thanks for doing this gingerann. +1

I know that back when they were adjusting drops on test they changed the loot drop rate for boss enemies to double the normal enemy drop rate (whatever that was/is). It seems to me that it has been adjusted a few times since then.

With gernades for regular stumps they will drop something good but the stump boss does not even give loot.

I think it does.. either that or I got it from some Flytrap nearby. If it was the stump though, it's not often.

Maybe the reason you dont get loot as often from normal foes is cuz you can kill them faster than a boss... thats why ive started going to tormenta for loot, because I can go through enemies faster.

I got a famed cutlass from a Twisted Stump

ruisen2000 08-18-2010 11:22 AM

I got the famed curse breaker doll from neban today. Neban is starting to drop more then darkhart.
