Irritated with Disney...
So, I log into my e-mail to check it and I see that I have something from Disney about my d-name. In fact it's a reply, yet I never sent them anything about my d-name in the first place. Here is what it says:
Dear Disney Online Guest, We are writing to inform you that your D-Name has been reset. Please note that we reserve the right to deny any name for any reason whatsoever at our discretion, including those already in the game. As the name approvals are processed by individual operators, occasionally names that fall outside of our guidelines will be inadvertently approved. If that name is later brought to our attention and upon further review deemed against the guidelines, it is removed and given the opportunity for a more appropriate name to be selected. Although we cannot comment on the specifics of your case, rest assured that the name approval process ensures that Disney Online will remain free of names that generally do not fit within our world. We kindly ask that when selecting a new D-Name, you remember that D-Names cannot include the following: -A guest’s real last name or other personally identifiable information -Anything the alludes to illegal activity -Foul, hateful or suggestive language -Trademark brand of character names not affiliated with The Walt Disney Company -Websites We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and we look forward to seeing you back online soon! Thank you, Tamiko The Disney Online Team <<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><< >><<>><<>><<>> ORIGINAL MESSAGE - do not edit below this line <<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><< >><<>><<>><<>> Ticket ID: 11081477-79582 <<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><< >><<>><<>><<>> First my d-name was based off my main pirate, Kate Goldwalker. The name was Kategw. How in the world that didnt fit in their guidlines is beyond me. My other account which is basic also has a Kate Goldwalker and that d-name is Kate_gw, and that d-name still exists. So I had to resubmit a d-name for my unlimited account. Hopefully they will be happy with this version of it... |
Disney has no idea what they are doing, and I promise you, I am no hater. Disney made a rather good game, and gave some good updates. But keeping certain aspects of the game together is what they need to do. They need to stop worrying about D-Name's, because that you say about Kategw is really stupid. I once got a guild name approved, and then had it removed because it had a reference to a book (even though it was based off of my characters name.. I understand a little about what you are going through there, and I think that Disneys policies are stupid. I think this game should be for adults only because of rum references and people still being able to flame one another even when certain words cannot be seen by other players.

The original message contains nothing but a Ticket ID??
|
Yes, ticket ID. If I had sent something to them, then that would have been at bottom, however I never sent them anything. I had that d-name for well over a year! I dont get it. Seems like a frustrating waste of time. I dont "need" a d-name, just makes it easier for my player friends to keep up with who is who and vice versa. What I think is frustrating me more is that they out of the blue contacted me with a "reply" to a ticket ID about my d-name. Who sent them something in the first place??

I have a Toontown-related D-Name, but I don't really play TT anymore and I think DXD is pointless.
___ Also, don't you really hate how if you are in another location, you click on a player name and you know they are online, but Disney shows them as offline? It seems like Disney thinks we're dumb. -_- |
So far I have not had to change an existing dname but since I have 3 accounts, my plan was to name them using various versions of KatFiveKnives. The first was approved but the others were all denied. I finally figured that they didn't want an account's name to be similar to another, so I ended up naming each account after the main (first) pirate on each account (which WAS approved as my pirates have unique names).
Anyway, the point to this story is that they may have noticed the similarity of the two d-names and determined that one needed to be changed. Just a thought. |
You could be right Kat. My basic account was my first account and that Kate Goldwalker was made before my, lol, main pirate on the unlimited account. So, if this is the case, they accepted the oldest accounts d-name.
If the new one I submitted for my unlimited account is rejected again, I'll just do something a bit different, lol. |

What's frustrating to me in these situations is that the Disney Online Team or the POTCO Community Team could (should?) use common sense. If the similar name thing is a reason (probably) then, IMO, it's ridiculous since a popular name would be in demand. Allowing players to have similar names would be a way for more Disney "Guests" to have an enjoyable experience. More ridiculous would be if the separate accounts use the same email address. Either the account was kicked by an automated process (possible), or someone complained (highly unlikely), or someone at Disney has way too much time on their hands and should be doing things that increase the Guest Experience, not take from it. |
BTW, my accounts are linked, so they would be able to tell 1. one person or family have those accounts, 2. there is one Kate Goldwalker on each account, & 3. I used two forms (Kategw and Kate_gw) for their d-names.

I had problems back in 2008 with D-names. I didn't understand what Disney wanted from me at the time, said they didn't like my D-name, so I changed it to exactly the name I use here, except I changed the last 7 to an 8. So I essentially didn't really change my D-name as it were. Maybe I'll receive a similar letter soon? lol

They would not accept my original player name, " Toleo ", but they accepted my player name now, Slouyx.
What's the difference? That's my big question. |
