How to keep myself logged into POF?

Resently Nick did an update to the site, and after the update every time I log out of POF, when I get back I need to log on again, even though I keep checking 'Remember Me'.

Is it something to do with my cookies?

I am having the same problem Mac.

I have the remember me option checked, I just close the browser, and don't sign out. Once you sign out, I think it says it clears the cookies, so that may be the problem.

I noticed this too.. at least I think I have. Thought it was just me being forgetful at first but since your mentioning it, perhaps I'm not crazy after all lol...

Happens to me too. What's going on....

I have had that issue since before the update. I just forgot about it and moved on. I am used to just typing my name in. I actually find the whole "remember me" thing a bit lazy. If I had to write an essay or a short story to log in then yes. I would like to be remembered.

It worked fine on IE 8 and google chrome but now i have changed to firefox it doesnt remember but it still works on my iphone

For those having problems. it's probably best if you delete your cookie for POF. You can do this by going into your browser options and deleting it manually or you can logout of POF, which does the same thing. Then log back in from the middle of the front page and click the remember me check box. This should give you a new cookie which works correctly.

We're sorry about the hassle but it's an inherent problem with vB after upgrade it to have cookies no longer working properly or requiring a new cookie.

The update that Nick has done is only the first one. We've got an even larger update coming soon. This will be switching the forums to vB4.x new rebuild of vB. It'll be changing a lot of features as well as disabling all our skins. We'll have tons of work to do once we've got it updated to get the forums back to something closer to what it is now. Everyone will just have to hang in there as we do this.

I'm not sure when we'll be doing the big update yet. We updated one of our smaller sites and ran across some unforeseen bugs which we're trying to fix and give us the experience to fix them faster here once we update.

It's funny how a POF update brings more than a POTCO update.

Batleth, I've done what you've said, but every time I exit POF and come back, it still makes me type in everything again.

Are you logging out when you "Exit POF"?
Are you clicking the remember me check box when you log in?

I've pressed the "Log Out" button and when I log out it says, "All cookies have been clearned" so I log back in. But when I get off POF(not log off) and come back later, I need to retype everything in again.

this happens to me, and if you want a quick log in, click "Register" it will tell you you already have an acount and log u in

Machazzard 05-23-2010 04:29 AM

This also happened to me. I would exit the web browser and then come back and it would show it as no one logged in. Once I clicked on a forum, however, i would magically be online, with my status and profile pic all there. Oddly enough, me and my lack of computer knowledge, has figured my own way around things (I dont even know what cookies are lol)
