What are the odds of getting El Patron's Sword?

Other then "It's random.." :piratetongueor4:

What are the odds/chances of enemies dropping El Patron's Sword? I know most people have been getting them from Darkhart, but just curious.

P.S, sorry if this is in the wrong place :(

Haha, THAT is an excellent question! Wish I knew the answer to that. I've been banging away at Darkhart, Timmy, Neban, the thrall pool, Menta bridge, and the treasure room since Friday. ATM I have 6 relics across 3 pirates for all that work. My 31 has just one sailing relic. Kat has 2. My level 38 has 3. BTW my 38 always fights with Kat. Go figure why my almost fully mastered pirate can't find the sword off all those different places on multiple servers an all different times of day. The luck o the Irish is most assuredly NOT in Kat.

I know for a fact of at least one person who got it from Neban. Another from Tormenta near the bridge. I have been present for the finding of 3 with Darkhart, 2 from a single Darkhart on just one day. Both of those were in a rather large crew in the evening. The very next day Darkhart gave out in a small crew in the afternoon.

As for odds you got me. In one particular drop there were 4 of us. 3 pirates got relics. Kat got a common. Seems to happen to her rather a lot. So, I have no clue about odds. I just know they don't like Kat! :D

I just found the lost sword yesterday night after doing overkill to Darkhart in Abassa. I haven't even found any lost relics yet.

I'm not sure about the exact odds, but I just realized there seems to be some sort of pattern with these findings.

I've noticed that most of the El Patron findings appear to occur when a crew is present. Now, this may be either because of the fact more pirates = faster kills, or it puts the types of drops under rapid fire. This means, perhaps with one lone pirate, theres a 5% chance of getting a rare weapon, as they make up 5% of the weapons in the Caribbean (again, just throwing random numbers out there.) Now, if there are, say, 5 pirates, Darkhart spits out the probabilities of weapons faster. This means, as he losses probabilities of some weapons, it theoretically makes the likelihood of getting rarer weapons higher, as he loses the probability of putting other weapons in drops. (NOTE: I'm NOT saying I'm backing this theory even 75%, because it sounds far fetched even when I read it. Its just a possibility. Hey, we can all make random guesses once in a while :D)

All I can say is, the probability is higher with a group, because of faster kills (and POSSIBLY my little idea.)

Well, since El Patron's sword went live, I've been on for at least 12 hours fighting darkhart, even on the leaderboards once to show for it.

I've acquired 7 lost relics, but no sword.

This reminds me so much like fishing on toontown. You fish, and fish, and hope you find the last rare fish.(like the devil ray or concord PB and J fish.) Your chances of getting the rare fish only increase. After, say, three thousand darkharts, if you think about it, it sounds like you should get the sword soon.

Maybe, or maybe not, but it's all random, really. Chances are you could get it in one hour... or chances are you might not get it for a year.

Maybe 1 in 50 or something like that.

Nate Swordwalker 04-28-2010 11:36 PM

Well, let's see.....at this point we have, what, 20-30 known lost swords out there? Maybe? And there's how many people on POTCO? Even if there's people that are no longer playing, they're still registered with it. So, if we go on DXD, we can get an estimate about how many people there are registered with the game, not counting people who have joined since DXD was last updated. So, a rough estimate is about....900,000 pirates (Based off of DXD Directory). 20-30 (or more) of those have gotten the sword. Now, if we can narrow that down to the pirates who are in the 50's, which we know there's at least 1065 of, those pirates have a greater advantage because they are able to take down the big enemies that will give away the lost sword. So, if every single level 50 were to have the chance to get the sword (and I'm just counting all level 50s because I have no idea how many 45-49s are out there, and we know that they have a higher advantage as well), we have a chance of 1 in about....845 pirates to get one. And there's my math for the day. Have fun

I got mine after beating Darkheart somewhere between 250 ~ 300 times (I was part of a 5 person group at the time and the only one to get it).

I tend to agree with the idea of a Group being better because it seemed someone in the group got something decent from the Chest drops.

There is a huge amount of random luck involved too. For several "Group Rounds" I just had out the Staff for the healing of the group and only did the basic blast on the enemy 1 or 2 times and still got decent drops as well as the lesser gold and really nice Puffy White Shirt.

MacIronhawk 04-29-2010 12:07 AM

I think we're forgetting that the 20-30 people that got the sword are the ones that can post they got it.

The majority of players in POTCO don't have a POF account, and it's impossible to know how many people actually have the sword.

I'd actually guess 2000 by now, but that's just a guess. (and from all the people on abassa showing off their sword)

JM Ohara 04-29-2010 12:26 AM

I don't think being level 50 has anything to do with it. I'm a 50 an don't have it. Further I know of at least a couple who have it and are too small to use the thing.

seafox 04-29-2010 02:46 AM

...was in crew last nite with three 50's two had it and are trying again for a second one...whats with that? ;P and is it even possible.....

combatlizzy 04-29-2010 03:58 PM

I found it when I wasn't really looking for it. In fact with my luck, I never expected to find it. My alt Dagger had only been on site for about 20 minutes. She was with a crew. When the chest opened & the sword was revealed, I was speechless. She is finally able to use the El Patron sword-had to level cutlass several times for that. Maybe, my Noto 50 pirate will never find it. But, it kinna reminds me of a lottery. Some play everyday & never win. But you always have those occasional lotto players that hit big!

Robmac7777 04-29-2010 05:00 PM

I had just signed on a few days ago, knowing their was new loot to get. I thought the Patron Sword was a gimme, and all had it. I join a crew at Darkhart (with Kat among others), started pounding away at him, I hit a major lag, and saw I had a different sword in my items, and it was the big prize.

So for me, it took maybe 30 minutes at most, when I first signed on, not long after the new weapons were out there.

The next day, in the morning, I was in a crew again with some Guild mates, and congrats to Blue, who got the prize. Then after grinding away for the rest of the day, probably 12 hours, there was no more Patron Swords, just assorted relics. Other than "luck of the draw" I have no clue as to what the pattern is, other than as stated, random.

May we all have the relics in our inventory soon, and good luck to you all.
Rob:)
