El Patron sword frenzy..

This I understand the desire for the latest, the coolest relics, it is natural. But have you found that some pirates in their lust for new weapons have lost their manners?

I have found some people to be down right mean about it. Even a friend and guildmate was angry because I revived someone near darkhart... they told me to let them die.

Disappointed and disillusioned.

Is a game worth it?

The Skirata Clan 04-28-2010 01:49 AM

More importantly is a weapon worth it.

Sven Osymthe 04-28-2010 02:04 AM

Many people have lost their manners in search of new weapons. What I don't get about your example though. Why wouldn't people revive someone, just because of weapons? Everyone gets different things, another person would be an advantage (faster kills).

I know that many pirates are already sort of.... harsh, mean, ect. But now it is because of weapons that EVERYONE can get from any enemy and they can SHARE the treasure? I don't understand that.

Nate Swordwalker 04-28-2010 02:45 AM

I have seen pirates who do this. They say not to revive someone because they believe they are 'stealing' their rep. SO JUST CREW THE GUY. Is it really that much of a hassle to realize that other people are just trying to find the Lost Sword - JUST LIKE YOU. We ALL want to find the new relics and weapons, have the same objectives, and some people get greedy. It's sad that some people are like that, but just telling them won't make them stop.

Ropeburn 04-28-2010 03:26 AM

its kinda pointless if u dont revive some one because u would still get the same rep and the same tresure..

I find that I can't take on an undead Gravedigger with some other pirate jumping in on the battle. Manners are out the window, replaced by Treasure Lust.

Looks like I left just in time. ;) I couldnt stand that kind of attitude and behavior. =P

I had another example of this the other day. While I was killing Dartan, another player came. I walked away for a minute, so that player began attacking Dartan. When I was back, I began attacking the 5 or so enemies around the boss, as not to take his rep. Next thing I knew, he began to attack them when the boss died. I decided to get a single attack with my cutlass in on the boss, so I could get loot, and because he seemed to think it was fine to take mine. After the first kill, he went on to say that he didn't want help, so I stopped and went back to the others. He then began attacking my enemies again, so the whole thing started over, until finally he teleported.

Personally I don't like "rep-stealing", but when a player does it to me on regular enemies, only to tell me that I can't on a boss.. that's a little different. I would of teleported away had I not had people AFK in a crew.

I find that bad, but what would you do if your Guild Master did something like this to you, and not only that, not even heal or revive you. I quit that guild because they seemed to become rude and obnoxious when the new weapons came out.

Eliza Creststeel 04-28-2010 02:06 PM

I can definitely say Aye to this issue.

The other night, I had to intervene when some disrespectful pirates stepped into an area one of my guild members was working. They weren't will to crew together or take turns against the boss he was fighting, but rather just mob any enemies in range.

Tempers got short to say the least. I did talk to both parties to try and diffuse it.

Folks, there are DOZENS of servers. Which means there are dozens of Timothys, Dark Harts, Nebans, etc. It's NOT worth the fighting and potentially getting reported for language, etc. Move on. Find another location. After all, the GM's say that you can find objects from ANY enemy not just the big boys.

Wait, you mean drops are NOT assigned to a particular player??? If not, BAD call on Disneys part.

I was not sure when I started Guild Wars if I would like the idea of partying up in an instance situation - meaning, when you leave a town or outpost - the areas with enemies are CREATED for you and your party ALONE. Which means, NO rep stealing (parties SHARE rep and money dropped) and no enemy camping. ALL drops are assigned to a certain player - its got your name on it, and someone else cannot pick it up (for ten minutes at least!) But, you can redrop something for another player - or trade it. =)

I love this system now - no stealing loot, no rude players - just you and your party out there killing things however you want, and sharing the spoils! =D

Drops are assigned to a certain player. That's why this issue is such a problem. Anyone who gets at least one hit on an enemy will get their own drop. There is no sharing of loot. Everyone gets stuff and not necessarily the same stuff in any particular drop. I've had many instances where a crew member will get a great weapon drop when all I got was gold. As far as I can tell there is no set system as to what is inside a drop. It's kinda like the lottery, totally random.

I had an alteraction the other day. Walked up to Darkhart and there was someone in the wall fighting him, by himself with what I assume was a basic crew rep pirate. (level 3 and afk). i said hello and asked if I may join them and I got "Go away, he's mine." as a response. Rather than start trouble, I said fine and left for another server. I would much rather spend a few minutes finding a group of good pirates or an empty server than stay and associate with a pirate of this attitude. It has gotten a lot worse since these updates came out. Weapons will come to you in time, there is no need for the frenzy of instant gratification 'cause once you have the weapon that you want, the complaints will start coming in that it was to easy for everyone to find the relic that they wanted.

Barkjon 04-28-2010 04:11 PM

I have noticed people being meaner as well.

I've been spending a lot of time fighting Darkhart with my guildmates. The one's I've fought him with don't even care if we rep-steal from each other, unless they tell us not too. We still get 90+ rep every time we kill him, as well as a good amount of treasure.

But I have noticed people becoming angry about El Dude's Sword. I don't even want it. It's too powerful for these bad guys.

Big Bad Wolf 04-28-2010 04:59 PM

Yes there are people who get angry and jealous that their friends got the sword over them! LOL.

What I've noticed is that people just start attacking your enemies even if you are there first, they might be assuming that its "okay" to attack without asking because everyone else is doing the same to them. They forgot that they are rep-stealing, or worse, do not care. That might be why your guildmates didnt want you to revive him/her because he did not ask to join and it angers them.
