Next Big Update?
 

What do you think that POTCO's next update should be? I think that the next update should be ship customization. This should go along with being able to go into your ship's hull and customize it like a captain's quarters or something along those lines. Along with this update, there should be certain "Guild Spots" where the guild can meet in peace without being disturbed/attacked. (I've walked right into a random guild meeting while leveling on Outcast).

These are just some of my hopes for the game in the near future.

That is a wish that most of us have asked and wait for since a pretty long time.

I hope so Chris. I know I mentioned that on the survey I filled out.. that we should be able to have guild halls where only guild may go for meetings, parties, whatever. Logistically, it would be no different than the toon houses on ToonTown.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but the current update is less than a week old yes? I think I can wait a little while for another.

Next test update might be on 30th of this month. It is more likely a continuation of the current story line (Invasions, Fleets, Raven Cove and the weapons, Mysterious Flags). Land cannons for some purpose might be coming (more likely warding off Fleets and Invasions, as privateers as D said).

One thing that I have wanted for a long time, a very long time indeed, is the ability to boot off pirates from your ship, just like in ship PvP.

It would force uncooperative pirates to do as the Captain orders them to do (What a concept, eh?) and if someone abused it then they'd find themselves without a crew (I would not reboard a noob's ship who kicked me out for no reason!)

It'd be a win-win situation, a crew committed to the ship and loyal to the Captain, bad apples tossed out to the sea.

Come on, "D"! get this done already!!!! Ships PvP has it! Just add to the rest!

Ship customization has been wanted by us pirates for quite a while now. Hopefully you are right, and that we will get this soon.

As TheHawke said, this new inventory just came out, and it should probably be awhile before another update.

Hopefully Raven's Cove Island and the new cannon defenses, and the new mini-games.

If Raven's Cove is released, and this is just me, it should come with a huge amount of new islands, and a story quest.

I don't want to see a new island before I need to go to it. And if Raven's Cove comes out, it better be for questing.

Do you guys think that Disney can hear us with feedback that we want to see Davy Jones and The Kraken in the game as the next big update? In my personal opinion I believe that this has now become an "Era of Silence" here with us not getting previews like we used to get. Along time ago. I hate to bring this up, But do you think we need to like make a petition or something so Disney will hear us or release previews of New Stuff like we used to get for example: In The Monthly Emailed Newsletter's,The On-The-Horizon Section of The Grog Blog on The Pirates of the Caribbean Online Website, and The Developer's Diary? I am just curious here. I know a lot of you are happy with the flow of things. But I am still extremely frustrated at Disney for saying in The Developer's Diary in 2009 that: "We can officially say that the kraken is coming to The Caribbean this year"... etc. Hey, I am not complaining here. James? Friendly advice. Leave Disney alone. They are cutting budgets like crazy including the budget for POTC 4. I honestly think that if they lose money or think that no one is enjoying the game, they shut it down in a heartbeat.

So please. No petitions. This isn't high school and we are not the student government.

Seriously folks. The LAST big update was just a couple of weeks ago. We got teasers and previews a couple of weeks before that. Relax. The Kraken is not the answer. Our feedback is NOT being heard and we will get what we get when we get it.

Does anyone REALLY think that Disney is making this up as they go? Is not even remotely possible that they have a plan? That they know exactly what is coming next and that every single thing they have done, from Ghosts in the Misty Mire to Mini Games are small parts of something much larger that is looming on the horizon? What is wrong with a little mystery?

Some of you must have driven your parent CRAZY at Christmas time...

Very true Ex. You guys should believe that Disney has a time frame for things, it has been proven with the recent updates' story ark. They are somehow going to continue the story into making a new chapter for all of us. The frustration is yes, because we haven't had a new chapter. And with every update everyone goes, this isn't the new chapter. At that rate we'd be disregarding every great update that comes to us, waiting for said chapter. Honestly, the second one's update will be just as big as the weapons update. So enjoy mates. Relax

To all who feel this way:

Disney has listened. They held those meetings with game players, they sent out the survey. They are responding to the results of both.

As I see it, the players are getting exactly what they asked for.

The problem::: Disney didn't ask or allow the 'older' players to put in their requests. They have shifted the focus of the game to an even younger audience than it was originally intended. Instead of players in the 12 to 16 year range, and therefor drawing an active audience of even older people, like myself, Disney has decided to focus the game on 8 to 12 year old players.

As such, the feedback they are getting, and the items that are being requested and put into play, are more juvenile and are making the game more like Toon Town than Pirates. These new mini-games are a perfect example. Tetris? Sawing wood? (Follow a path.) Collect things? Easy to implement, and they are things that the younger players want. Short in duration, don't require a lot of attention, yields immediate results. These are things that a younger player will enjoy.

A story chapter is major. It is something that requires a lot of game time. As such, it doesn't offer as much appeal to the player who just wants a quick result.

The real problem then is: Disney originally designed the game to attract more mature players than their other games. TT, CP, Cars, are all designed for a younger crowd. Then, Potco got popular with an even older crowd.
Hence entire guilds of adult players. Now, Disney seems to have made a decision to integrate Pirates more along the lines of the other games, age wise. Maybe they think that that is where the money is?

Either way, Disney IS responding to the requests that have been made. Just because they aren't the particular items that a few have asked for, they are the things that were (probably) the most requested items.

I believe that more islands will be the next update to The Test Game or rather The Game/The Caribbean. :) and that they will come within the next week or the week after that or next month in Early June of 2010.
