I have to kill several undead gypsies, bandits and brigands. Some of them I got by taking out phantom ships, but havent found any undead gypsies.

The only place I've seen the gypsies is on the island (dont even remember where on the island now) and they're like level 25 and up. I'm level 17, and with a potion or 2 could handle one (maybe), BUT, when I try, a navy soldier of about the same level attacks at the same time, and I end up in jail quicker than you can say "Ahoy."

Is there any place I can find some undead gypsies that aren't so high level or do I need to round up some friends and try again?

There is a bug with that quest. In one place it says you need gypsies, but in another it says something else. I can't remember what though, so you'll have to look at your quest. Click on where it says to defeat gypsies and look up at the top. All three are messed up, so get whatever you are still missing.

Thanks, I noticed that too, and sent in a bug report. I'm going to look for some brigands (which is supposed to be the gyspies) in tortuga swamp and see if it gives me credit.

Yes I had the same bug. In my journal just looking at it is stated 6 gypsies. Well I went on to kill six gypsies on my own and it took a while. Thinking I had completed the task I open my book only to find that it stated I had killed 0/6 gypsies. But if you click onthe gypsies it shows in the description as being 6 Brigands. After doing those I was able to hand the task in just fine. I will say that each thing in my journal was actually something different if you clicked on it and read the description. So please read the description of this task carefully until they fix it.

So where do you find the Undead Gypsies? I did a fair amount of exploring around Padres del Fuego (which is a VERY tough island), but I hardly found any. Is there any other place where they can be found?

I've seen one hanging in Murky Hallow on port royal and in the caves at Padres. You may need the spawn time to heal anyways hehe.

There are undead gypsies on cutthroat isle if i remember right.

The only way I was able to get all these was to have a friend with high voodoo and healing - he kept healing me over and over so I didn't have to stop - found them on Port Royal - in a cave - and I used bane shot on pistol I think - good luck!

Got mine hanging around Murky Hollow at the celebration, where you see them dancing around the fire. You have to watch for vampire bats but usually lots of people there to help if in busy district. Pretty easy but they are about LvL 12 plus

For gypsies, go to Beckett's Quarry, then go to the other exit. It should take you to another place. There should be a Gypsy that is under level 24.

This quest is still very bugged, but I got it done today. I thought I needed "Undead Gypsies" even though the quest says "Undead Brigands". But as it turns out, the game didn't want either those, it actually wanted "Undead Gravediggers"! Got that straight? Uh, me neither. :) But anyway I was able to complete the quest today by defeating a bunch of Gravediggers. Weird.

Before i realized the quest was bugged I got all my gypsies without dying. I went through Lava Gorge (on Padres Island) and I found if I stood far enough away half behind a rock I was able to kill them without them attacking me. The brigands were a bit harder because they attack back but if I started one and died if I ran back the damage was still there that I did and I was sure to get them the second time around. I suggest if you dont have help doing them somewhere where the jail is on the island so you can just run back and finish them off. If you do them on a wild island you can't do this. And if you see me runnng around just ask me for help.
