The Cannon Flag
 

I have some new helpful information that people have been asking/theorizing about The Cannon Flag found on Port Royal, Tortuga and Padres del Fuego. Here is what i got back from my email to Member Services. Please Note: Not all of the message is about the cannon flag. Here is the Message: Enjoy. :) :D xD

This year plans to be a big year for improvements and fun added for all our guests in the Caribbean. From the new inventory/weapons and Treasure Fleets in the Caribbean. There are many improvements on the horizon and perhaps we will consider some of the suggestions you made.

We understand that their is some confusion to Jolly Rogers roll in the Caribbean, he is yet another adversary that Jack Sparrow has double crossed in Jack's long Pirate life. We can say that you we are working very hard to eventually bring Davy Jones and his Kraken to the Caribbean. However, there is no expected release date to this upgrade. Please understand that their are many improvements we are making at we need to focus on each as they arise.

We acknowledge your thoughts on improving Cuba with a possible map, invasions, even improving shops located there. In terms of the cannon flags, because of all the recent Treasure Fleets sinking and Invasions by Jolly Roger some of the Islands have elected to establish cannon locations so Privateers can help defend the city.

YES!!! That's awesomely awesome! Something else we asked for that Disney listened to. WOOHOO!!! Too bad you didn't figure out when we get to test them...

Not sure if Disney misuses the word "their" twice in the same paragraph... :blbunny: lol just kidding.

There was word of this awhile back and now we have the first phyical signs ingame other than GM talk.Land based cannons are great,I wish we could have invasions that begin at sea and progress to land....Cannons would be handy there!There was word of other stuff by some person whos little brother addended a Disney survey...the things said there are continuely becoming true.Thank you for bringing this back into the light with something graphical like this flag James!

So we'll get to use cannons to protect forts from enemies? Well, ok, but only if there be a reward in it for me.

Hmm... Does this mean that the enemies will start attacking the forts? For a long time now, ever since the word came out that the EITC was in league with Jolly Roger, I've expected we'd end up on the same side as the Navy. Now we've got their weapons and we're defending their forts. What next?

(Personally I think we should be able to build our own defenses. Barricades, spikes, etc. Maybe even found a Tortuga Militia. Who thinks along these same lines?)

*Random Fact* Pirates on Madagascar once formed a " pirate kingdom ". It eventually fell, but who's to say we couldn't... rebuild it? (Be able to fortify a wild island, make it our own, maybe after a vote on which would be our "Base".)

Only problem I see with using the cannons to protect the forts is that, there will probably be a lot of people wanting to use a cannon. But then again, there are quiet servers. So I'm all for it! And Keeper, that sounds like a great idea!

Your words make me smile Keeper. :) I think since we have France and Spain as privateer factions it would be rather nice to be a British privateer.It would kind of balence the current " evil British soldiers" mindset in the game to a more moderate one.(To further that I would like to be able to attack Spanish Merchant Galleon NPC ships :D )

A Tortuga militia would actually be very nice,a sort of special order of pirates....Those new muskets would be helpful.....And for some strange reason your idea giving me this Empire Total War feeling.Disney did ask in that survey about choosing different sides perhaps French and British soldiers would be a nice addition....But for this to happen I think that Tortuga needs more towns or fields on it for militia practace,and there should be many more islands,a large French colony or their own version of Kingshead,Puerto Rico and the large fort at San Juan for the Spanish.Finally I want to see the Portugese and the Dutch make an appearence in some form in game ,as they both were Caribbean factions.

Also in the servey was a question about Fort Sieging ,which almost sounds like something that would correspond with Cannon Defences,it reminds me of some kind of boss battle actually.(Or your Tortuga Militiamen could be the perfect attackers upon a fort,as they are a small army :) )

Thanks Dockwrecker. I like that you think like me. The British Navy have never been seen as an evil force in the Caribbean. They've always been more of a neutral. Not tolerating Pirates, but not exactly bent on their destruction either. It's those mercenaries. Those... EITC soldiers... that are an evil force, aye? Just like the bunny army that's been following me since I took their eggs....(Coughs) I mean... never mind. :hop::hop::hop::hop::hop::hop:

I would honestly find it interesting if the British could be the third SvS island.

However, remember that the two SvS islands are controlled by pirate lords. So we need a big bad British guy, similar to lord Beckett, to be trying to fight off these guys.

And cannons at sea would be great, except it would get a bit dry after a while, and to have them on SvS islands would be great.

Like I've said before... I'd like to see some land privateer raids. (perhaps in capture the flag form?) You go to their island, capture their "flag" (a gold chest as a piratey replacement for a flag?) and sail it back to your home island. This, in effect, would raise your bounty/score, as well as everyone who was on the ship who sailed it home's bounty/score. The cannons would come in somewhere along the lines of shooting at the large mobs of enemy privateers approaching your fort? Idk, just senseless rambling. :)
