Emerald Green Seas? Is It a Sign? - March 2, 2010

Emerald Green Seas? Is It a Sign? March 02, 2010

Some say it's a sign -- a bad omen of things to come. But truth be told, it's the mischief of that charming rouge, Shamus O'Malley. He so loves his native Ireland and the color green, that instead of letting the barrels of green dye get shipped to ports around the world, he did something ... shameless! O'Malley stole onto the EITC cargo ships at night carrying the valuable dye and dumped it overboard. Of course, he kept some dye to hand out to the local merchants so Pirates like yourself could get a fine looking green hairdo to help celebrate - St. Patrick's Day!

The Irish GM, Shamus O'Malley, leads the celebration of his patron saint on Wednesday, March 17. Shamus will be giving away gold to Pirates all day ...so tell all your mates and Guild members to enjoy the celebration!

Lol looks like they can't get anyones hope up after last year's ' Green algee sea' XD. I still have my green hair from last year, so no need to get it again :P.

Bubba Bunny x 03-03-2010 04:55 AM

Arrrrg..... Here we go again with the sea reminding me of vomit or kraken mess... Atleast it looks much, MUCH, do i have to say it again?? Much better than last year graphic wise... Or maybe I just didnt have my graphics up to top notch.... eh any who....

Dockwrecker The Privateer 03-03-2010 01:48 PM

Well, I have yet to see the green sea....I logged on and its glitched standard dark blue for me. :p I think D is cheezing this game up the last several month,I liked the Omen frankly I mean this is based on POTC....well I think they can fix things. But again some of the newer GM events have been rather 'kiddylich' if one understands what I'm saying, perhaps I'm being a tad harsh....

Captain Whale 03-03-2010 04:54 PM

I was sailing last night and I have to agree the Green Sea looks better than ever.

As to the Omen, I assume you are talking about the reference last year to sea monsters and the green sea. I can certainly see why they took that out.

As to the GM events I went to several of the Captain Rott ones and found them to be a lot of fun. Yeah several had some disrupters but the banter back and forth was well done at the ones I attended. Hope yer next one is a better time mate.

Lol,allow me to clarify.Several of the Gm's events have been good,I will tell you that I have yet to meet the Casa De Muertos but I sounds as nice as the old Black Guard. But recently there were some events that seemed a little more....may I prenounce 'kiddylich'....Perhaps I was just there at an off time, but as for the exact role-play events there was one time at a Feats of Strength and it just seemed....Well I'm being vauge because I don't like to name names but it just seemed more childish, perhaps my perception has been off lately(and I'm not saying everything,it may have been an isolated example,I'm just saying things feel like they are getting younger aims this last several months as far as I can tell,I just ponder if it's one of D's new ideas or merely something that tends to occurr time to time)
But to keep on topic I just thought that last-years revealing of green die being dumped was really just silly and unattractive compaired to an actual sea monster omen. But as Saint Patrick's day is a holiday I suppose it had to be festive and not full of dark tales of coming dangers, lol.
I think complaining is a very negative thing,I'm not sure if anyone ever noticed how I try to balance ideas to their right but there is always room for improvement and many people might fell that their ideas are being rejected by Disney. But after a while I've been a little bored in-game but again I've been playing too long without a vacation, which tends to conflict the mind's opinion,I will be taking a break soon,I hope to return and have that great feel the first day I played.
Well I have to leave so my typing ends here, lol.

Captain Whale 03-03-2010 05:49 PM

Ahoy Dockwrecker - I see nothing wrong with your posts mate. The Competition events the GMs were very focused on getting the races done and keeping the pirates in line. So that was not a typical GM experience in my mind at least. I tried talking to them myself and they politely told me they were very busy with the contests. So that may have been some of it.

I agree the Sea Monster part of the Green sea was cool and I don't think they mind having a darker cause but with the whole "Kraken" thing I can see why they dropped that.

I don't see your posts as complaining and I am mearly pointing out my views as well. Always like seeing yer posts mate.

Cheers!! Captain Whale

And now, the real omen. Why was the EITC carrying so much green dye?

That is a very good question!Next St. Pat's day Disney should add that as a cargo crate worth 50 gold.

Nelly Darkpaine 03-03-2010 08:02 PM

Wow! A totally new event! Err... NM.

IMO? The D developers are slacking. 3 years running and nothing new?

Captain Whale 03-03-2010 10:26 PM

Let's just say we disagree on what the D developers have delivered. I am sure that the pirates that have joined the game in the last year were happy to play the Valentine's day quest and now get to see all the St. Patricks day stuff.

I missed the Valentine's day quest last year as I was out of town so it was nice to get to do it this year. I didn't do much with the Green stuff last year either and will probably pick up a tatoo and some green hair on one of my pirates. Sure it would be nice if they would tweek it some to make each year a little different.

What I don't understand is your statement that since the game started there has been nothing new. The 2nd year anniverary was back on Oct. 31st 2009 btw. I know you are frustrated because what you yourself want to see has not arrived. Enjoy Guild Wars I guess until that happens. I for one am loving the advancement of the storyline. I am very excited to see what form Raven's Cove will come in. I have my own ideas of what I would like to see but I won't let that stop me from enjoying the why D presents it.

This may be the way they roll out new content from now on. There may not be a second chapter, this may be it. Short term quests to advance the story and then some kind of events like the Invasions and the Expedition Fleet. In this way they advance the Lore and give us new stuff to do all the time.

Definitely agree to disagree. Nothing new for higher levels to do. Same old stuff, rehashed.

They should have had TWO more storylines by now. Easily. The developers are worrying about things the players didnt ask for and ignoring requests. People have asked for more clothes storage for WELL over a year. Nothing. New weapons or skills. NOTHING. Not even NEW events.

Oh well. I loved this game - but I gave up on it.

What advancement of storyline? There has only been one storyline quest since the game was released, and there's no news about the second storyline quest.

Storyline is NOT little things Disney throws in because they won't get their act together and make new things. These are distractions. How do we know Raven Cove has any envolement in the second story quest? How do we know it's not the Kraken, Jolly Roger's Invasions, or something else?

To make a story quest about all the things people have said the storyline is about is silly. Why would one story quest focus around invasions, an EITC fleet, and the Kraken? At least the first one was set in stone what our quest was, not mixed around all over the place.

I for one am not crossing my fingers. I'm waiting until the release something. I have hope for the game, but it's really sad what they're doing. Even toontown has announced new things they plan on releasing, and they took two years to release BBHQ. While that was a long drag that us players hated, when it was released, it could literally take players months on end to finish, even a year. These story quests can take less than weeks to finish them if you're addicted.

What they need to do is take the content they have, and make it "drag on" so that we're at least busy, and not bored for a year until the second story quest comes out.

I know I've rambled on, but I'm getting tired of waiting. It's been a year an 1/4, and if they don't release the second story quest before summer, when my subscription ends, that's it for a long time. No need to keep on paying for a game where the developers refuse to release a new story quest.

I think a triple or quad sized second story chapter with new ideas and content mixed in would be an instant success, but then I think I might be dreaming unless someone an Pm that to D.However that Dungeon or Sieging Disney asked about in that poll could really make his a 'sizable' game.
Here is a quote of someting I only posted several minutes ago, this might be the reason Disney is as slow as they are at giving out content,I wonder really how big their staff is,there has been evidence in the past it's much of the same crew working all the Disney MMOs.
Quote:

I think many people are right,Disney seems to launch new content slower than many MMOs,perhaps it's becasue Disney is a Film and Television company, not a gaming centered one.Who knows the size of their staff,I suggest someone interviews POTCO staff in a long to run relationship sometime,I've seen it done with another forum and a large European based company known to some as TLC,they were not a sole gaming company either....
It's A Film comapany running a game division, which is running 4 or 5 MMOs now, perhaps I am wrong but is that uncommon?Perhaps Disney are making the best of what they can.Perhaps they can't compete or perhaps we have thought too poorly of Disney, after all: they are people ,we all are.

(Note:I am with Mac very much when it comes to the gentle topic of graphics, they may to watch their step as they develop this game.)

The Skirata Clan 03-04-2010 06:34 AM

It is indeed a bad Omen when things start to repeat themselves over and over.
