i would like to know your opinion

ok.. i want to know wat you think of total customization. like build your own ship from scartch with the money you have already... like have a frigate hull/ship of the line hull, with the sloop speed and maneuverability, the cargo and armour of a galleon and you can build your own sails W/ crests and name anything you want... you can color the hulls. etc. and you can place your cannons whereever you want.. and build any broadside number and have firebrand/explosive/lightning/fury broadsides..

oh and i want the ability for these ships to be only made in unlimited access but available if you go out...

though i want disney to regulat health and all that so no UBER ships lol

plz tell me your opinions on this...

While the idea is nice, it would be wwwaaaayyyyyyyyy too complicated for Disney, as well as the Caribbean itself to bang out COMPLETE customization.

For one thing, you need to give consideration to the new pirates to the Caribbean. 50 gold wouldn't get you very far, and also, I'm positive a few if not a lot of new pirates would have difficulties figuring out how to actually build their own ship.

Next, the ability for there to be literally hundreds of different ship types on the sea, would most likely cause MMMMAAAJJJJOOOORRRRR lag problems for a few pirates. And of course, theres no doubt in my mind pirates with a, "creative," mind would abuse the system..

Still, its a good idea, but it needs to be changed up a little bit before it would be ready to hit Open.

Jeremiah Gungrim 02-26-2010 10:23 PM

I would very much like that, but maybe have them provide a few base model options so its not too crazy.

Captain Whale 02-26-2010 11:01 PM

I agree that would be a fine thing but it would be too difficult and cause lag issues. I would like to see some customization but it would have to be upon the base ship types Disney has already provided.

So things like coloring the Hull or Sails would be possible. SVS ships show this can be done but they would have to put in a user interface to do this as well as a color wheel and sail/ship templates for painting. It would most likely be multiple choice of set designs and colors rather than freeform painting.

Keep in mind you already have some customization available for you ship. Through skill points you can increase your ship's speed, cannonball damage, broadside damage, reload speed as well as your ships over all turn radius and tacking. These can be very valuable depending upon what you are using your ships for.

I would also like to be able to fly a pirate flag of my own design.

You can do some things with what we already have but the the database requirements for Full ship customization would be hidieous. It would be nice to have some options I agree.

In a way this idea could be amazing, perhaps we could plant more into D's mind lol.It seems like something that would take a while to develop to me ,if done right,Disney would have to create many more ship kinds before we could get to that stage.(If this ever was added to POTCO you should still have the option to buy an already build ship from a Shipwright.)One thing I would worry about is mix-match buckets sailing around though:laughks2: .Although Disney has already stated through all their current vessels that historical accuracy isn't nearly exercised in this game at sea.In the end I believe a decent ,well developed, beuatiful Ship Customization is the route to go,along with some new ships to customize like Brigs ,Indiamans,First Class line ships, and perhaps a rare Junk.In that you could perhaps add or change masts just like ye said. When ye buy your ship one may not have all the materials yet to customize so ye can rig yer ships as you progress through the game.
I think privateers in peticular would like to remove their War Sloop's cabin and add more cannons and repair boards in that place. And why not be able to go inside your own cabin on your Galleon or Frigate?Me and someone I know have been developing such an idea. And make yer helm spin too!:mat:

Captain Whale

I think flags should be a great highlight of Ship Custom.French,Spanish, pirate,EITC,British Jack, freetrader banners, mastop pennants of various kinds and apprearences.Flagships should have the good ole large flag that flies off the stern.

kageroumaru 02-27-2010 02:35 AM

ok.. lets say we take Ship of the lines, frigate, galleons and sloops but we re ARRANGE their hull dsign to our own and put our own cannosn in our own customization...

including sail custom with our own design, hull color etc etc

Barkjon 02-27-2010 03:22 AM

It would definitely be cool, bu it would be very complicated.

I'd say change the color of your hull, custom cannon placement, custom sail design, and stuff like that.

Also, it would be cool to have your own flag. Like, maybe if you saw a ship that had a custom flag, it would be above the ship name... like flagships.

kageroumaru 02-27-2010 03:47 AM

ya... oh and in open sea we could board other players ships :O but yea that idea

ok and at the VERY least let us build open the ship of the line/frigate/sloop/galleon lol.. like make it bigger/better or something lol

just seeing the same old ship around is getting kind of old.. i wanna see ppl's creativity

Angel Seafish 02-27-2010 04:41 AM

You sure you wanna see people's creativity? XD

Kat Five Knives 02-27-2010 05:59 AM

That wouldn't be quite fair to the lower leveled pirates. After all, a bunch of pirates level 40+ would just sail around Abassa boarding and sinking other players ships all day. It would be nice, however, for that to be implemented to SvS.

Now that would be fun.

I think this could be done fairly easily, actually. Simply do the following:

1) Allow a choice of three different hull sizes (already exists).
2) Allow a choice of from one to three masts (already exists).
3) Allow choice of sail layouts based upon the number of masts you chose. This could also be very easily added.
4) Allow choice of color scheme--just like in clothes--for sails, hulls, and trim.

The various sail layouts along with the size of the hull will affect speed and accelleration. AND if Disney would add in wind direction, it could also be used for determining best point of sail.

Also, wouldn't seem to be too hard to allow little extras, like figureheads that could be chosen and bought.

Costs by item (just lik it is now) and VOILA! Yer very own newe custom shippe!

Midhav 03-02-2010 03:48 PM

I believe we should customize cannon types and their placements, add more realistic sail and hull protection methods, New realistic sails, guild flags, customizable flags, ready made flags, various designs around and in the ships, hull enlargement and resizing, figureheads ( magical as well ), customizable storage for ammo, custom cabins with mini games and fleet/crew management, largely explorable ship, offloading powder kegs, goods storage ( where we actually take goods from ships and actually move it with 'Shift' ), NPC/Player crew for sail, rudder and broadside management ( broadsides though will have to be NPC ), special weapons ( Harpoons, extra muskets for fending off enemy monsters, pirates, Navy, etc., repair-ability, Plank walking ( for discipline ), Crew takeover if captain is inadequate ( decided by vote, also known as Mutiny ), various tacking and speed measures, customizable wood for ship ( interiors and exteriors ), ship naming personal custom-ability ( with moderation ), special features such as oars in case of mast breakdown, customizable broadsides, gunpowder caches, lanterns, etc. ( for night and all ), crows nest and finally the ability to climb up ropes and set ropes and pull masts down in case of weather. This is what should come with Ship Customization, and i'd be happy if Disney has more on its mind.
On to the main topic, no I don't believe we should start from scratch for the ship. We should make use of existing models from which we remodel it to our gain. We should also start of by pirating and ships ( including the war ones ) by working as a merchant or Navy officer as a starter before we actually become pirates. On rare occasions if we have enough money we should be able to buy warships...

way too complicated... lets do wat BART said... with ship naming, walk the plank, you can see your treasure from wat you collected, cabin card games.. i all agree..

OH i would JUST DIE for a cannon that has a 360 view on the crows nest :psmiley27:
