Reputation

To go with my "Take a Minute - Give Rep!" movement, I am editing this post to give more information about reputation.

When to give reputation:
Have you ever been stuck on a quest that you don't know how to finish, or have you ever not been able to do something on the forum that another user helps you out with? That is the time to give them reputation. Or if you see someone else helping out another forum-goer in the same way, that is also the time to give reputation.

Who to give reputation to:
Give reputation to anyone who helps you or others significantly, or who contributes to the forum (not a paid subscription, but someone who suggests ideas or gives forum guides for the good of POF).

Now some of you are thinking, 'Okay, cool. I can do this. But where is the reputation button?'

HOW to give reputation:
In the top right corner of a post, you will see that user's Join Date, Location, numer of Posts, and reputation (the green blocks represent how much reputation a user has). Above it, there should be a grey box with an '!' inside of it. Directly next to it is another grey box with a check and an x in it. Click that. On the next screen, type your message (example: Thanks for helping - from PirateAhoy), then send it, and you're good to go!

What NOT to do when giving reputation:
NEVER give reputation to a friend who asks for it. In fact, if someone asks for it, you should report them to a moderator. Also, you should never ask for reputation either.
Do not give negative reputation. If everyone in the forum follows the three sections I have laid out in my guide, within a month or so, having no reputation would be considered negative.

Please see my "Take a Minute - Give Rep!" movement thread in this same forum, Site Feedback. I hope you all enjoy POF and will contribute to the success of the site with reputation.

I see some people who have said nothing helpful with lots of reputation, then I see people who have said tons of helpful things with no reputation. Reputation is to be given if the person helped you or said something that could help others. Don't just reputate because your friend asked you to :h-confused:

This is the kind of stuff that made us remove it form our other forums. I'd really like to keep rep here, but if people can't handle it and use it correctly, we'll be forced to remove it.

seems like some people don't understand how the reputation thing works lol np here's a little help:

If you see somebody helping out another user for the forum, you could give them a rep.

To do this, you go to the top right of the post, where it shows the post number, then right next to it is a rep button. Click on it.

Once you click on it, you can give a reason for why this person diserves it.

Please, do not give rep, to just anybody, or giving negative reps to people.

I usually rep people that create guides or maps of the game that help other people.

Exactly. I see plenty of people who help others all the time with no rep. If people would take a minute out of their oh-so-busy schedules (if you're reading this now, you aren't busy at this moment), they could make this forum awesome.

But too bad that when this game is out on open, everyone will join this forum and most probably abuse rep power because they either don't know any better or are griefers and don't care if rep is removed or not.

Here's a question for Admins, is there any way to get rid of rep option for certain people?

If people abuse it, it would be more fair to other players if they lost that option if they abused it.

Just a suggestion, if not, it's ok. I'm just wondering.
