Fly Traps
I just learned something that may be of interest or maybe everyone else already knows it.
I had a task to get the root from a fly trap. I chose to fight a level 18 fly trap in Pantano River (Tia's hangout in Cuba). I am a level 12 but alas I was dead very quickly even though I used one potion to restore my health and voodoo. After waking in Jail I immediately ran back to the same fly trap and guess what? The damage I had inflicted earlier was still there. I fought again and died again. I repeated the process two more times and each time the strength level of the fly trap was lower than before and after 4 attacks and 3 deaths by me, I was successful and earned the roots that I needed. I hope this was not a bug and I hope this helps someone else. Roger Pugfish |
Hmm that could be of interest to the people who have to kill even higher level monsters when they are low level. Thanks for sharing AS. Hope this doesn't get fixed.
Also couldn't someone else come by and steal your kill from the fly trap since the damage stays if you take too long to get there?? |
Yup that's how I get my higher level flytraps. It works for other things as well. Sometimes however, they will disengage and you have to start all over. I remember doing one quest for Tia and going back about six times before I got the flytrap :p

I did that tonight too, only I was doing lvl 12+ skeletons. Works well unless you have others in the area who take advantage of a half dead enemy. (Yeah, I do that too!)

But be careful, if you let them go too long without being attacked, they will start to heal.

I just used this trick this morning in Tortuga! Since the jail is right next to the entrance to the misty mire, I just kicked the door down, marched my pirate booty back into the mire and gave it another shot. Discounting the times that a rogue Crab or Alligator killed me on the way to my goal, I'd say that Trap killed me at LEAST 8 times before I prevailed. :h-skull:
Thanks for the tip! |
