A question about small pirate ...

I used to frequent this game that called these small level characters with high level weapons as ubers. Basically, you'd play POTC similar without doing must quest but working the weapons. Is there a special key word or term for this? I'm thinking it might be fun to do something like this.

Also, if you do create a pirate such as this, what Notoriety would you expect for maxing the weapons to 30? Is it possible?

Most pirates wouldn't bother building an Uber. You would be very limited in what you can do.

In DW we have at least one Uber, though. There's a player who has taken a pirate to around level 18 Notoriety using nothing but cannon. The pirate's cannon level is at least level 25. That pirate has never gotten a pistol, or even the Light Sloop, first ship.

A few of us have done things like never doing the Pearl quest, and reached Level 40 Notoriety and all weapons maxed, the old levels for fully mastered, without working on the Pearl quest.

It wasn't so much an Uber, but just to play the game with variations.

And then there are some who try to keep all of their weapons /skills at exactly the same level.

I've got me an uber but he's basic atm. His only rep is on his cutlass, an that's all he'll ever use. How far that goes remains to be seen, cause it will be a good long while before I pull him outta the sawdust.

I'm going to give this a try. I'll get the cutlass, pistol and doll and focus on those. Not sure how the sailing / canon skills will come into play.

So far, she's at Notority 10 with the doll. Not going to do anymore black pearl quest.

LOL Kelly - you didn't name names, but we all know a little one who "does" her horses and fits that bill to a T. :D

Welcome to the madhouse Sarah H. ;)

I have no idea who you could be talking about. :tongue8:

Jeez. I'm nameless now? LOL - It is pretty limiting though. I can't even sail myself anywhere to shoot things at sea. He's for fun though. I may even get to Level 30 someday.

As Basil said though, it's more of a variation of playing the game, choosing to do things differently or not do certain things. It's not like on TT where you are actually have to make a choice as the game progresses (i.e. which gags you're going to use). All pirates have every opportunity to use every weapon and skill. The only limiting factor is where the skill points are used. So in that sense, we can't really make an uber as TT players define it. If you want to make a pirate and decide to limit yourself, you can do that. With little Sven, my choice to only use cannons takes away my ability to get a ship, fight things on land, do any of the Pearl quest (1% done! I still need to retrieve the orders from a Cadet for Elizabeth Swann), etc.

If you're going to try something similar, go for it. It can keep the game interesting for you, more fun, and challenging.

Sven,

Thank you for the insight. HA! I'm busted. Yes, it was TT. With the reps earned with killing stuff on pirate, I don't know if an uber is possible.

Not nameless, Sven. Didn;t want to name you, just in case you wanted the privacy. Figured you would say something yourself, if you wanted to. Similar to Piper and her OCDness of keeping all levels dead even.

That's not much of a secret. And we all know Little Sven's chief purpose is to give us a reason to say, "Hey Piper! Look at his skills!"

I play several TT ubers (or at least I do when I can actually log in... Time for my daily bug report!), and because of the way Notoriety is tied in with weapon usage there really is no way to achieve the same goal. If you keep using the weapons, the levels are going to come.
