Ships Question! Help me out here! :D

:hiuf3:I have about 22k Gold right now. i have a Galleon and i dont know if i should spend my gold and get a war sloop and work my way back up....or.....should i keep saving my gold to get a war galleon or war frigate, 20-40k gold away? :william:

What should i do??

Thanks!:skull:

It is harder to make 40k than 20k. I would save for the War Galleon. They have more Broadsides and more cargo space. Then you can work toward the other 2.

Aye I agree with TSC. What I did with my first pirate was plunder to get enough gold to buy a war galleon and then plundered more with all that cargo space to buy my war frigate. The last one I bought was the war sloop.
Each has its benefits though. Just depends on what type of sailor you are. War sloop turns very well and is fast, war galleon holds most cargo to make more gold and the war frigate is better in battles.

i dont agree you should save up for a war frigate then with the war frigate save up for a war galleon and get a war sloop if you want

I used to think that it was best to get the War Frigate first, but now with the ability to drop low value cargo until you get a ship full of royals I would probably get the War Galleon first. It wouldn't take long to get enough money to buy a War Frigate, if you kept filling up that galleon with royals

I find I sail one ship almost exclusively for day to day pirate activity. I had a war galleon but didnt like to sail it so it was a waste of cash so I sold it and put a lite sloop back in the line up for racing around with friends and stupid stuff like that. So my thought would be decide what ship ya like best and buy it first. The others really dont matter as you can only sail one at a time and buy them later if you decide ya have to have a full war fleet. As far as the war sloop it wouldnt be my first buy as it doesnt offer more then the galleon ya have now really for playing the game. It is a good ship for SvS and thats what mine is for but you can get it later with the gold thats overflowing from sinking high level ships with your War ????

War frigate first, hands down. Team up with guildmates that have great treasure sense for plunder parties the gold rolls in quickly. The new design of the War Galleon is not worth the gold.

war frigate

Well, lets make a purty little list to list the advantages/disadvantages of all the War Ships.
War Frigate

Advantages
  • Plenty of broadsides and cannons on all angles.
  • High Power.
  • Great damage with Ramming Speed.
  • Faster and more maneuverable than the War Galleon.
  • Easier to miss over a War Galleon.

Disadvantages
  • Holds less cargo.
  • Slower than a War Sloop
  • Costs 60,000 gold - even with maxed gold you'll still have barely any gold left.

War Galleon

Advantages
  • Holds the most cargo out of all the ships - rakes in gold the fastest.
  • Has the most broadsides, with plenty of cannons.
  • Costs 20k less than the War Frigate.
  • Plenty of armor.

Disadvantages
  • Easiest to hit out of all the War Ships.
  • Still costs 20k more than the War Sloop.
  • Slowest of the War Ships.

War Sloop

Advantages
  • Cannons on the sides and "front."
  • Fastest of the War Ships.
  • Easiest War Ship to maneuver and dodge other cannon fire.
  • Cheapest of the War Ships - only 20k.

Disadvantages
  • The "lightweight" of the War Ships - easiest to sink if you manage to hit it.
  • Not as much fire power as the other War Ships.
  • Only one mast - if the other ships manage to knock it down, you will be left with not much sail power.

Now, its time for my ruling! And my decision is.....

Go with what fits your sailing style. If you like to "Hit and Run" the other ships, you like SvSing, and/or you like ship races, go with a War Sloop. If you want to get a War Fleet, with gold to spare, and you like to challenge yourself when you sail, go with a War Galleon. If you like gathering with your friends/guild for a plunder party, you love to sink the other ship as fast as possible, and you want to drive a comfortable ship, get a War Frigate. I know its hard to decided what you like, so just look at what you do most often. Good luck matey!!

I say war frigate. They may have less cargo than a galleon but only by 2 spaces. No big deal.

swordshot 01-09-2010 03:14 AM

i change my mind war gallleon

Well, you have gotten some good advice, and I figured I would add my 3 cents also.
You have heard the Caribbean pirates opinion, now it's time Barbary Corsairs recommendation.

Over all, I recommend you try to steal the little dinghy in Padres, it works quite nicely when sailing up to a big juggernaut and saying "Give me your gold or I'll summon the kraken!" But if your not that risky, I recommend you take your 20K gold and invest it in a Sloop O'war, it's the best for those just starting out into the warship class, it gives you all the maneuverability you want without sacrificing too much firepower. It might take a little longer to get all the gold you want, but you wont get bored as quickly with a Sloop, unlike a galleon and there is a lessor chance of this happening to you: Logging in to POTCO getting ready to sail, clicking Galleon O'war, and say "Back to the bloody grind again..... why didn't I just order pizza?".
