Honestly, I'm more fond of the curse than any of the others. I'll make a nice pretty list to sort everything out:
- x2 Rep: Its nice and all, but even with that, leveling gets tedious after a while.
- 22 Gold: Meh, nearly all of my closets are full, and I'm fine with my 2 ships, so its not that special for me.
- Member days: I'm Unlimited, so... yeah.
- Clothing 50% off: As stated, nearly all of my closets are full, so not really significant for me.
- GM Events: While I love role-playing and interacting with the GMs, you really don't do anything out-of-the-ordinary, other than talk like theres a script in front of you, and run around after people. Also, the disruptive pirates and lag bring this all down just a bit.
- Crew days: I went to it once... if we got lucky, 7 people showed up, and nobody really did anything else than just stand near their friends/guild like kids in preschool and their parents.
- Invasion: Its really really fun the first 5 to 8 or so, but soon after everybody learns how to beat it, and it becomes an automatic reflex.
Now, heres why I like the curse over everything else (even though it was really close with Invasions!)
- You get to battle in an enviroment other than the drab, cramped PvP Zones. Its really fun having to watch your back at every turn, and having to use the enviroment to get out of a sticky situation, or get an advantage. In an open, cramped room, the more skilled pirate will most likely come out on top. But in a diverse, large enviroment, from Port Royal, to Padres, to even Tormenta, its anyone's game.
- You get to fight with dozens, even hundreds of your friends, guildmates, and of course, your enemies >: D Theres no real pirate limit in a curse (well, you consider lag the ultimate boundary) so a small skirmish between a few close friends could soon swell over in to an all out war! Me like chaos.
- Isn't it more fun to fight other pirates, where your actions actually reflect theirs, other than a shallow, automatic NPC?
- It just gives you a feeling like your actually a swashbuckling pirate, aye? Back in the olden days, there were no boundaries to who you could and couldn't shoot (unless ye didn't want to get shot yourself!) Welp, now those boundaries are gone, so whip out those pistols and cutlasses, savvy?
Still, while the others are great, I think the curse has a little more character to it :)
