I cant get it to work... If I even try to start pirates... Firefox just crashes

Sven Niscadae 12-18-2009 03:16 PM

Hm... This certainly is interesting... or is it? Just tried it but alas the port is blocked from work. Not sure how viable this is going to be. Depending on how its performance is, you'd think it'd be better to just download the regular game client. Adding another layer of processes through the browser seems silly to me. Not really sure Disney needs to work on things that aren't necessary.

I kept getting an error message about the download not being finished when I tried to log in on existing pirates, but when I created a new one it let me right in... Weird.

Tried it out on a few different browsers.

On Google Chrome, couldn't get it past this page:

On Firefox, I got this:

Viewed the certificate and told it to run anyway. Managed to get it downloaded and it didn't take too long at all. Played the mini game during the wait. How nice of them.

Got stuck on the never-ending loading screen. Waited nearly an hour and still hasn't changed.

No luck on Safari either. It says the game is downloading but there is just empty space where the progress bar should be.

So, I'm 0 for 3. If any other Mac users have any luck, please post. If not, I won't waste any more time messing around with it when the normal application is working just fine.

I tried Test through Google Chrome and it worked well (better than on Firefox or Internet Explorer).
I didn't see any significant difference in the quality of gameplay (i played on fullscreen and with
high graphics), loading screens are still slow because I use Vista. But that I already knew, hehe.

I think this option is very good for those who don't want to download the game to their computer.
And even if the game (not very likely) would change into just a web browser game, it wouldn't really
matter. Everything looks the same, you can play in the browser window, in the normal windowed
mode or on fullscreen. The only difference is that you don't have the launcher, and the sceenshots go
into the Panda3D folder :)

Went to web page mode and crash:mybadki6:

New Improvement:
  • Privateering ships now display the correct sail colors.
  • Fixed a bug preventing Pirates from using cannons and the steering wheel after being sunk in Privateering
  • Fixed the cannon damage sound effects on ships
Known Issues:
  • Windows 7 and Vista users may download and launch the game very slowly
  • Mac users - Launching the game from the web is not working

It is almost 2010, Windows Vista has been out so long that it is being replaced already and these guys are still making a game that is optimized for Windows XP??

I can't get this to run in ANY browser to save my life. And if this game goes the Fusion Fall route, I'm done. :ziwyvs:

I know that shouldn't make me feel better but, oddly, it does. :piratetongueor4:
