Test Release Notes - December 4, 2009

  • Fixed the black ocean on the French Privateering Island.
  • Fixed a bug on OSX that would prevent mouse and keyboard input when playing in a windowed mode.

My quotes are from the Dec 1st release notes. Hadn't had a chance to get on Test in the past week.

Quote:

Ship sails and masts will now take significant damage from chain shot.
For some reason I'm finding it really wrong that just firing at the sails will take down the entire mast (even if it's only chainshot that's doing it). Has anyone else seen other ammo types taking down masts without actually hitting them?

Looks like they took care of "not dropping" additional cargo thing I did math on earlier. Now they're shorting me on cargo. I just got 10 crates, 2 treasures - then sunk another ship to get 1 treasure so before I landed it said 9 crates, 3 treasures. My sailing summary screen only showed 8 crates, 3 treasures.... Shorted me something there.

Enemy ships seem to be taking courses closer to shore. So beware, cannot guarantee you'd be totally safe if you launch and go AFK.

After playing for a while, noticed that the enemy ships looks like they're skipping frames and jumping ahead a few steps, making it harder to hit a skeleton ship with chainshot.

Quote:

Ship hull armor is now more effective across all ships.
If they're talking about the outer hull, I'm having a hard time believing this at the moment. Outer hull armor for me is being taken down like it's paper.

As much as I'd like to see the improved graphicals, this isn't ready for Open yet, imo.

Aye, Sven...I have taken down masts with lead shot. Wasn't aiming at them so I don't know if it was luck or what
And the armor does appear to be more vulnerable. But I read somewhere ( can't remember where) that the enemy ships are firing stronger defense now. Maybe that is the reason..idk

I believe this is ready for Open for 1 reasons.
1. Because The GM's have been pushing it with "lore" from the past weekend.
2. Its been on test for almost over a month now and they have fixed all the big bugs/glitchs/crashs.
