Test Release Notes - Dec 1 '09 Discussion

RelTEST Release Notes - December 1, 2009
  • Pirates are no longer physically blocked by other Pirates. This means you can walk through another Pirate rather than having to walk around them. This makes it easier to walk through tight, crowded spaces.
  • Cutthroat island is visible on the map again.
  • Fixed an invasion bug that caused infinite waves of Jolly Roger's minnions.
  • Ship sails and masts will now take significant damage from chain shot.
  • Ship hull armor is now more effective across all ships.
  • Boosted defensive capabilities of enemy ships by 25 percent.
  • Fixed several collision issues in the light and war frigates.
  • Fixed several coloring issues on various ships.
  • Fixed ocean color on the Kingshead docks.

Please report any issues you encounter using this feedback form.

Aww ... No more AFK pushing. (Not that I would ever do that :psmiley35:)

Glad to see that they are working on the minor issues, rather than go to the next step. The final release will still be buggy... but this sure helps.

This is the way it is done on POTBS. Good side: no more being blocked or moved out of position in a fight when somebody TPs to you. Bad side: no more AFK pushing!

Cutthroat island is visible on the map again.

Yay. Necessary change.

Fixed an invasion bug that caused infinite waves of Jolly Roger's minnions.

Ship sails and masts will now take significant damage from chain shot.

Ship hull armor is now more effective across all ships.

Not sure about this yet. Was there some reason everybody needed better armor?

Boosted defensive capabilities of enemy ships by 25 percent.

Fixed several collision issues in the light and war frigates.

Like what?

Fixed several coloring issues on various ships.

Okay....

Fixed ocean color on the Kingshead docks.

You mean it wasn't supposed to be like that?

I too will miss the AFK dunkings and moving around. Another down side to this is not being able to move people out of harms way. I've moved many a pirate and saved them from jail.

Down side to the updates today:
I have only been able to log into test once. Decided to change pirates after the update, and was booted with by a bug. Tried a couple more times to log in and same thing. Anyone else with this issue??

Hope to get back to test soon......

Was logged on this morning. Only issue I have been having is I get the 'brown box' message saying connection failed, try again or cancel. Always click try again and I get right in. But this has been happening for some time. This is my Vista machine. Also have an iMAC I use as a second puter. Has the newest version of leopard running and have not had any issues yet. Will be playing on it tonight to see how things go with these new updates.

After downloading the update, I am not able to get past the select a pirate screen. Get to the loading screen after that, but game crashes shortly thereafter. Sure it will be fixed soon, so for all those who can get on, keep us posted. :)

There seems to be a problem with a pirate going to or being on Padres Del Fuego. Once there, the game kicks you off and you can not use the pirate anymore. You get to the select a pirate screen.

Is this happening to everyone on Test? The reason I ask, is that there was a similar bug when the live game first launched, though the bug only effected certain graphics cards.

Thanks for the info Cap'n Sureshot. It does indeed appear that if you left your pirate on PDF when you logged off before the update you will not be able to get on. Game launched just fine with 1 of my baby pirates on the same account that was left on Tortuga.

Haven't been able to log in since the update...Gonna try a different pirate and hope he's not on PDF...

Yeah thats all they need to fix, that and the MAC OSX Issue. Other than that this update is finally ready for the live game! :)

Ahoy, I spent some time working ships last night. Couple of things I found were that you no longer need to hit the mast dead on. All you have to do now if hit the sails to do damage. I tested this on several ships - never hitting the mast.

Also on galleons you used to get a damage boost if you hit the front down by the waterline. The damage is the same from the water to the rail now.

The ships seem a little tougher but if you can still take them down. As Jeanne said Chainshot is greatly improved and actually worth getting now. I used to use thunder instead as it did a much better job on masts.

Personally I like the new detail on the ships. They look much better than before to me.

All for now. There are still some bugs to be fixed so I think we will need another update to test before we can call it ready to ship over to live in my opinion. The PDF thing has to be fixed.
