Can the game be played with a game controller!?

I want to know if it is possible to play the game with a game controller.

Hmm, wouldn't know for sure - but if the controller is KB mappable (or mouse mappable?) it may be possible...

The subject I haven't seen, so if anyone out there is actually using one - let us know :)

No, you cannot play POTCO with a game controller.

Problem being even if it was, what about moving the pirate? That's done via keyboard. It would have to work with both the keyboard and the mouse.

I'm sure it's quite possible if the controller is designed to emulate the key presses and mouse clicks. I know Zeppers plays using his mouse for most things (even movement) so it's not impossible. There are controllers out there with plenty of buttons. Most I've seen in the store resembled (and had buttons to match) a Playstation controller. If such a gamepad/controller isn't available, there is software out there that will map the keyboard/mouse to the controller for you.

I heard some people used to did this LONG ago.
It was with a gaming controller.

Could the use of a controller be classified as "cheating"?

JM Ohara 12-03-2009 01:20 AM

I would think that would depend on what you use it for. If you are someone with joint problems who might find a controller easier, no big. If you are using it to play for you, then yes.

First off, Yes, it is possible if you know how to work and map a controller to play POTCO, or any other game on the computer, with a controller. I for one have played TT and POTCO with my controller before, and it is not that complicated to set up. You simply need to have one that has enough buttons to map your movement, camera, and any other imporant buttons you may want to have.

As for it being against Disney's terms of service to play the game with a controller, no. As regular controller use works just like playing with a mouse and keyboard, there is no legitimate policy you can be bound to that would disallow any user to simply play the game with a controller. With that being said, there are controllers that allow you to write in macros for the controller to run on it's own. These would allow "Automated Gameplay", and is clearly stated as a ground for termination in the EULA you agreed to when you first created your POTCO account.
