Even with flaws in the next chapter, would you be pleased?

I've noticed that everybody is always so eager about wanting Disney to release the Second Story Chapter. And surely, everybody knows when Disney rushes things out, theres bound to be something wrong with it, or something we don't like. So, I'm just interested. If Disney does fall under the pressure and rush out the new story chapter, even if it does have holes, flaws and/or glitches, would you still be pleased with it being out?

The kind of holes, flaws and glitches I'm talking about, of course, are those like the unability to continue with the quest, it being extremely short and simple, etc. I'm just interested.

I would be pleased with any new content regardless of bugs, it just would give pirates a thing to talk about.

Hmm are you talking about another POTC movie so they can add another boss battle, more quest, more rooms and more islands? i that is what you are talking anout then yes!

No, I'm just talking about the next story chapter they've been promising.

I don't want a new story chapter that is all messed up!
I would rather have a better chapter longer wait than a terrible chapter with shorter wait!

I agree. I said maybe, a few small bugs are probably inevitable but having to wait a while longer for a more solid quest is worth it IMO.

Angel Seafish 11-25-2009 03:44 AM

I said maybe. But if it was completely messed up, then no.

Captain Grizzly 11-25-2009 04:46 AM

Voted no on this. I would love to see the next story as much as anyone but I would prefer it be as ready as possible to run on the open servers versus being rushed out. For now I have plenty do with 5 more pirates to level, some with quests still to do. I can wait.

ukebec 11-25-2009 05:06 AM

I had to say no. I'm one who saw the existing Boss Battle (story quest ultimate challenge - i.e.; Pearl vs Goliath) in game and then taken down for months before it could be fixed and re-introduced into the game. I don't want a repeat of that.

I'd like more legitimate, detailed communication between big D and the players on where they realistically stand with the next chapter, and then, once they believe it's viable, for it to be released onto test for a long enough period that they can get accurate reporting on all of the problems.

Then I'd like to see them back up, tell everyone what they've found and how long they anticipate it will take to get it corrected, and fix the silly thing as completely as they can before releasing onto open.

That's what test is supposed to be used for, right? Not a black hole of reporting.

IMHO

The only thing I ask is to stop Disney from being vague about it. Just say its taking X amount of time to create and the X amount in test. If something goes wrong it will take X amount to fix. Just don't say "soon" then make us wait days, then ,months, those then years...

Captain Whale 11-25-2009 04:41 PM

I would be happy to wait until they have it ready to go. It's no fun to play if everything is buggy. I am enjoying all the new stuff they have going on right now.

Good grief in this day and age it seems no one is prepared to wait anymore. It's all rush, rush, rush. Get things out and NOW!! Who cares if they are vague. Isn't it enough to know there is new content coming??
I would hate to be in Disneys shoes What a job they must have trying to satisfy eveyone who ever played. I'm sure they have anticipated dates for everything that comes out, but sometimes, things happen and they cant put it out when they want to. I'd rather have new content out when it's ready, with minimal bugs and flaws, and if that means waiting a little longer then thats fine by me.
Until then I can still find loads of things to do online, and I play up to 8 hours a day, most days. So, unless you have an account with 4 pirates all maxed out at 50, weapons maxed and all quests done, don't tell me you are bored or that there is NOTHING to do because it just ain't so.

Well, even the First Chapter wasn't perfect. And they've tweaked it since then to fit the updates.

So, Chapter Two will likely follow the same way. As newer updates come along, whatever they've got done would likely have to be tweaked.

I will gladly wait all they want, knowing new content is coming is good, but just don't say "soon". I would rather hear them say "it will come out October 2010" then hear "soon". That is just an attempt to keep the paying players in-game.

Now what entertains a player is different from in each one. Maybe some like grinding and leveling, some others like to hang out with others, others enjoy a good quest, heck there are some that like to grieve others. Therefore, you might understand that a few pirates might be impatient.

I am always someone that wants to see things done right rather than right now. I always get amused at the very limited testing time they allow the testers. And the attention they pay to them.

Eliza Creststeel 11-25-2009 08:08 PM

As someone who works for a software firm, it's practically IMPOSSIBLE to hit a release date. And I doubt there are ROOMS full of C++ and coders pounding away on this.

Our company is very small and tons of unforeseen issues crop up and things never seem to move forward, all while the client is complaining that no matter how fast you are - its never fast enough.
