POTC Forum and POTCO

OK, I'm such a bloody noob !

Is this site managed by Disney as well !?!?

I started to think that this is all owned by Disney as well, or at least under the POTCO umbrella, excuse my noob question but that would explain a lot for me.

Thank you,

POF is owned by Nick. Nick owns a series of Disney MMO fansites since Disney won't create fansites/forums about their own games. I maintain the daily management of all of Nick's Disney fansites. Our policies and overall goal of having a family-friendly environment are similar in many ways to Disney's. Though we are in no way affiliated with Disney.

Since this questions asked, I have one of my own.... does pof have to follow disneys rules strictly no matter how silly some may seem....or disney could actually shut down fan sites like this?

Being a privately owned fansite, Disney can't control us, but they do own the copyrights on many things discussed or displayed on our fansites. We've had TTC running since the early 2000's with little word from Disney. They have made some requests over the years which we've complied with as we don't want to get into a legal matter over what they clearly own. We've also done a few things that they weren't too happy with. Such as posting spoiler information about some of their games, allowing passing of friend codes, and other minor issues.

I do believe they could close down some fansites if they contain too much Disney content, like images, or if they don't identify themselves as not being affiliated with Disney, like we do.

Nick is a native of Australia and therefore our fansites and server are not subject to US laws. Though we try to stay on the right side of the law, Disney would have to come at us in an international court of law...if we were in violation of their copyrights or other legal violations.

I do know for a fact that our fansites are browsed by many Disney staff members, I don't think they view them as being harmful. It's free advertising for their games and other stuff, afterall.

So are you saying that the GM's come here every once in a while, or atleast are aware of this site?
