Never Forget!

Happy Veteran's Day to all who have served both in recent & past wars. Those that gave their hearts & minds to serve their country deserve our gratitude & our thanks. And even though it is a day for veterans, I wish to thank those still serving. It is a thankless job alot of the time. And I believe that on this day & every day, these brave soldiers deserve our support & loyalty. After all, it is loyalty that makes them keep this country free! We cannot take their service for granted...

Thanks, Lizzy. I'll be honoring my uncle and father tomorrow. I for one thank every Soldier, Sailor, Airman, or Marine who has ever served, whether for three years or thirty. Also, I give great thanks for the families that support them. Those families bear a heavy burden through deployments and oft-times after.

Peace in all servicemembers' and family members' hearts and minds. Some of the wounded will fight their battles for far too long after they comee home.

To Our Veterans

When ever I get the opportunity to personnally thank a veteran, I do. Wheither it be in a store, airport, or just walking down the street, I always make an effect to show my appreciation for what they are doing and/or have done.

Also, great pic EC.

Veteran's Day has started to become one of my favorites. When I first got out of the service after Desert Storm it felt very awkward. I would meet "real veterans" at events who had fought in WWII, Vietnam, or Korea and feel as if my meager contribution was so insignificant. As I get older I've come to realize that isn't the case and have become a lot more comfortable participating.

Today I was invited to attend an assembly at my daughter's school (yes, there are places where kids still do that) and listened to poems, songs, and a few short speeches. There were Korean War vets, one Gunners Mate from WWII, and several others from my era - as well as a handful of current military. Each of us had a son, daughter, nephew, niece, or grandchild attending the elementary school.

I guess I've come to realize that veteran's day is as much about showing our young people that veteran's live next door, on their street, and in their neighborhood as anything else. You could see it in the eye's of all the scouts in their uniforms, and kids singing, or reading.

Took me a while to realize that this holiday is as much about inspiring the next generation as it is remembering the contributions of our servicemen and women.

Happy Veterans Day!!!

I am making this post in admiration, respect, and honor to those who risk their lives fighting for America. What they do is courageous, selfless, and honorable in every way. I thank all those who are in, used to be in, or will be in the military. If it wasn't for them, America would be nothing like it is now.
