An idea for sailing

We have had many threads about sailing, but I haven't seen this suggested before:

The captain of the ship gets to pick his ammo type for broadsides from his own personal ammo. This would be especially helpful with the way ships spawn on top of you now.

Right where the ammo line is kept right now for cannon, the captain gets those options. If I want to broadside Thunder, or Fury, or even High Explosives, I should be able to choose it before firing. On my War Galleon, one broadsides would take 18 ammo out of my personal cache. But it would do tons of damage to that Spawning Man-o-War that just popped up. Rather than letting him spawn and crush my ship.

Sounds like a winner to me.

I like your idea, but instead of your ammo being drained, why not just have a ship cache. You could like enough for 10 special broadsides.

this idea is old i even mentioned it in my thread...

New or old...idk but I think it is a great idea...especially if a pirate sails alone alot like me.

slightly different than older ideas because here, you choose 1 of the ammo, and you can choose before a battle, but after port. My suggestion to you is to state specifically how you would go about this. ex: press "L" then 1 to fire a lightning round off the portside, and press f for firebrand, etc.

Similar to cannon.

Across the bottom of the screen is a list of your shot, and how many are available in your inventory. Right below the icons for sailing.

Just prior to firing broadsides, you pick the type of cannonball to fire.

You would have to use "Alt" buttons. 1 is fire left broadsides, but alt 1 would be select iron shot.

So, say you wanted to fire Thunder. "Alt 5" to select Thunder, then 1 to fire left broadsides. It stays selected to Thunder until you choose something else, or until you run out of thundershot, then it reverts to ironshot. Each broadside you fire uses the appropriate number of rounds from your inventory. If you pick an ammo that you don't have enough of, it reverts to ironshot.

And to answer someone elses question. I think the rounds should come from the captains inventory, since it is his ship and responsibilty to keep it safe.

I like it Basil, might be a difficult task for Disney to come up with, but would be fun. I love to stir up the Death Omens, as their "light show" is pretty awesome. To see it coming from our ships, now that would be something I'd like to see.
