My guild is never online anymore.
Hello Everyone! I am new to this forum, but not the game.
So I am in a guild, and I really like the people in it. I am also an officer, and so is my husband. However, they are never on anymore. Only here and there I will see one of them. Its been like this for a long time now. We also have a forum and I never see anyone on there either. So my question is... Do I leave my guild? I really don't want to abandon them, but I want to do my "recover the pearl" quest and have more people to play the game with. I also don't want to start my own guild, as there are so many good one's out there already. What would you do? |
I'd check with other friends of mine to see how their guilds are faring these days. Many guilds are finding new members etc and others are leaving for greenier pastures. I trust the opinions of long time friends on the game with me.

My suggestion is to really think things through. If you want a guild that has more activity there are a lot that still have. Find one that suits your gaming style and move on. However if you don't want to leave your guild ask one of those members that still pop up "What's going on?"
You don't need to leave your guild to do the Pearl Recovery or to have fun in game. There are many of us bored and happy to help pirates in here that will jump at the first chance to do a the Pearl quest. You can set up a meeting place and there will be a good number of pirates ready to help. Meet them, crew them, and if you like friend them. That way you'll know other members of this forums, have fun, without leaving your guild. |
Well, first off there are some guilds that have been growing out of nowhere, and then some who have been big. If you really like your guild, you dont have to leave, but if you do, make sure somebody's online to be able to tell the GM that you didn't leave because you didn't like it. My suggestions are ( if you are going to leave ) McRaging, The Savvy, Spania, or any on this forum site. Overall, its your decision. P.S. You can choose to take part in a newley growing guild also.

A key question : is the GM still active? If not I don't see too much hope for the guild.
You said you have a forum for the guild, you might post there and ask whats going on with everyone. You can at least stay in touch through the forum, if there is anyone left to stay in touch with. Get what guild mates you can on your friends list. |
Well, as Dan said, it all matters if the GM is active or not. If he isn't, well, you've pretty much got yourself an inactive guild there, with pretty much no hope. Also, like Dan said, why not post on that nifty forum for your guild, and see whats going on, and if there are any plans to get the guild active again.
If you decide to leave, at least take the oppurtunity to friend the guild mates you like the most, so you can stay in touch in-game. And lastly, finding a new guild. I'm not gonna sit here and tell you how great my guild is, our how this guild is good, or that guild isn't. How guild a good is depends on YOUR opinion. Don't let others tell you what guild is the best, based on members, the leaderboards, etc. Take a look around the forums, and see which one best suits you. I'm sure you'll be able to fid one :) Good luck matey! |
Thanks everyone for all the good advice. I am not going to make any quick decisions on it, going to think about it.
I have posted on the forum quite a few times, and haven't had any response. The last time the GM was seen was 4 days ago, but not by me, I haven't seen her in probably a month to a month and a half. We'll see what happens I guess. Like I said they are all great people, fun to play with, I just don't ever see them anymore. :piratewheelgo2: |
Yer getting some good advice and it sounds like yer taking it to heart Jade. I agree that is yer GM is no longer involved the guild is done.
Best thing to do is look over the forums here and talk with yer friends. There are some great guilds with awesome poeple in them here. If ye can talk to yer friends about it you might be able to all move to the same guild together and keep the active players together. Best of both worlds so to speak. Do a little research and see which guild fits with your group. Good luck Jade and give a shout out here with any questions. Capt Whales |
Will do Captain Whale! Thank you:)

Ahoy, not i hope yee will have fair winds in resurecting your guild. And i always root for other guilds, but incase yee may have a spare second, pm me for our guild site info.
And im sure every guild be thinkin about doin this, but i thought id be first. Now we are not huge like black barts krew or anything (53 members if you need to know) but we are tight, help eachother, and do events and have fun with other guilds. Also, if your guild does come back, let me meet your GM, id love to arange some fun multi guild events.:laughks2: |
About the activity of the GM, I beg the difference, at least on me case.
I have 4 pirates, 2 of them in the same guild, one on another guild and another guildless. All me references to "guilds" go to the 2 on the same guild, for which one is the GM and the other an Officer. The GM character hardly ever comes in but the Officer runs the show, the fact that they have the same name and pirate appearance makes it clear and no secret. I only need the GM to make someone an Officer which is very rare, the Officers can do just fine. On a different note, I heard of guilds where EVERYONE is an Officer, I guess it makes it easier to recruit since everyone could ask others to join,,, I wonder how that works!? |
Hope all is well Jade McBones.
Captain Seafarer... I think you miss the point about there being a non active GM in her guild. Since you and the GM are the same person and since the Officer you is on and active. Your guild has an active GM... You. Your pirates are one and the same and you are on taking care of business. In Jade's case her GM (and any other pirates they may have) are not on. No one is there taking care of business and as you said there are some things only a GM can do. So no new officers can be created. If all the old officers leave then the guild cannot recruit ect.. The guilds with all officers have probably had some problems with a rouge officer. I was in one at one time that did this. It's a protective measure. All I am gonna say on that. I know exactly what Jade is going through. My guild sounds just like your guild Jade. I am still there on and off, but our GM has moved on. I still talk to her now and then but she is done with POTCO. We have a forum too. I am the last person to post there I think. A long time ago.
It is sad because our guild was once a top 100 guild, always in the daily best categories. Pirates sought us out to join. But as members finished all the quests, beat the Pearl thing and mastered...they got bored and left. The second wave of folks were, shall we say, a bit immature. So now, if I log on there might be one other person on-line. Anyway Jade, I would move on which is the exact opposite of what I am doing. But I am out of quests, out of stories and will (most likely) go basic very soon. |
Ahoy ex8404, with the new lvl caps and the invasions there is a lot of fun to be had in the game mate. The invasions have really galvanized me guild and tis pirates are leveling like crazy because of it. There is also the ghost sightings and all the other halloween fun going on right now. Zombie Dance!!
I am sorry to hear your guild isn't very active and I would ask you to heed the same advice the fine pirates above have given her. Get yer active friends together and find a new home. You will be suprised at how quickly the game becomes fun again. Some people like to solo but most of us play for friendship and to socialize. You will also be suprised at how easy it is to make new friends. So get off yer duff and get back in the fun mate. P) Good luck ex8404 hope to see you out there. Cheers - Captain Whale |

I have been busy but just on test these days. I just might look into rallying the old troops into a new guild. Semper Fidelis! |
