Crew Me
Upon others arriving on my boat (when public), I often get requests to "Crew Me", "whistles" for attention, etc. Some get outright demanding.
I find it very difficult and distracting from the task at hand (sailing the boat or battle) to zoom in, change camera angle, etc, all to find and click on that 'tiny' little guy or gal running around on the deck of the boat, or hiding for that matter who is waiting to be crew'd . This is espically so when they arive in the midst of battle and/or while I'm near lots of enemy ships. So much so - most of the time I don't even bother anymore . I'm now a level 26 w/17 sailing hence if I can take a vast number of ships myself including some flags. As such, rather than spend the entire game trying to crew someone, I watch the actions of the passengers to determine who can truely contribute my quest, for a flag ship or what ever else and maybe crewing them only- timing permitting. I know its not fair but I'm frustrated.... Takes all the fun out of sailing and working together. Leaves me to using the passengers to achivel my goal rather than our goal - its almost Pirate abuse. Yet when I go on other boats, I'm often asked to join the crew almost instaniously. How do you guys and gals do it. I assume I'm doing it the hard way. There has to be an easier way???? Help |
Indeed there is an easier way. Once they say something in open chat just click on their name and it brings up their player card. Hope that helps you out.

What I think is worse is bringing on public when boarding flagships - it's a virtual certainty that crew members will take the wheel without asking even if you specifically tell them not to.

Thanks guys for the feedback.
Grizzly the tip to click of chat is great. I didn't realize chat contained active links. I'm still wondering how some captians tag me a meer second or two after arriving on their ship without me saying anything in chat. As I said, its very difficult for me anyway to pick out a miniture guy or gal running around on the deck or a cannon. I figure they gotta be doing something different than I - It would almost seem they have to change the camera angle to drive the boat so they can view sideways all the time and easily zoom in and out on the deck to see new arrivals ----- OR there remains another way that has yet to be uncovered by this thread. Others? |
You can change the camera angle while sailing. I do it all the time myself. It works just like aiming your pistol or grenades. Right click, hold and drag the screen. Sailing that way can be confusing, but I find it helps me get a better look at just where enemies are. The same can be said of finding new crew TPing to a public ship. With the camera tracking sideways you'd see every new member as they came in and be able to click on them before they even fully land. Hope that helps.

In my opinion, I'm kind of ticked that some pirates refuses to join your crew on your ship, or are already in one. Can somebody remind me why we can boot pirates in privateering only?
