Should the Leaderboards be redone to reflect lvl of kill?

In my opinion I would like to see the leaderboards redone. I think they should reflect not just the total number of kills or ships sunk but the lvl also. For example:

1 kill if enemy is within 5lvls of you
.5 kill if enemy is between 10-5 lvls lower than you
0 kills if enemy is more than 10 lvls lower than you
2 kills if enemy is more than 10 lvls higher than you

I see alot of players ranking the leaderboards killing lvl 1-4 gators as a lvl 40+ or sinking light ships and this is NO indication at all of player skill just alot of free time I think if the leaderboards reflected more on quality than easy kills it would better showcase our playing ability. Which is more impressive getting 100 kills on tormenta or shooting 10000 gators on Cuba?

Number of kills is number of kills but I agree is misleading if not rediculous. Maybe make a new listing for Master kills using your or another similar system.

Personally I would just like to see all the leaderboard and the rest of DXD fixed and running smoothly each and every day. One of my pirates switched guild weeks ago and it has still not been updated. It makes it hard to check my guild stats for my new guild among other things.

I don't have the kind of time it takes to get up on these boards anyway. P)

Maybe a simpler way would be:
Grey lvl enemies 0 credit
Green .5 credit
Yellow 1 credit
Red 2 credit

I like this idea! Why should the leaderboard always be filled with pirates killing grey stuff just to hit the top. That's rewarding people using grey areas to get ahead. Great idea D, teach kids to find the easy way instead of challenging themselves.

I support this idea and think leaderboard pirates have no life.
Come on 25,000 kills a day? they must not even eat or use the room with soap.
Just kill kill kill gators and grave diggers. The leaderboards should be fair to all pirates,
making it possible for a lowly lvl 12 to get in the top 10.

Let it be proved who some of the real masters are, and not just that scum in Tortuga with donuts.

I voted no, for two reasons. One, anyone is capable of doing what these people do, if someone doesn't have the time to do so because of personal reasons, thats on them. Its not a requirement to do so, if it was, that would be a different story. Two, I honestly don't care how they do it. People choose to kill grey level enemies, it doesn't matter. When I signed up to play, I didn't sign up to compete with others, I just signed up to do what I said, play.

The way I see it, the leaderboards clearly say, "Enemies Defeated", "Ships Sunk" and so on. So that means any enemy/ship is fair play.

Personally though, I could care less about the leaderboards above other things. I would rather they fix the leaderboards to work correctly (PvP WINS count - not losses, and so on), or just use it to display what guilds pirates are in, level, etc.

My intent is not to take away from what those on the leaderboards currently have done they played it the way D set it up, and spent countless hours doing so. Maybe D could recognize them and reward them at the 2yr anniversary Founders Feast but then reset the boards and set it up in a way that rewards both quality and quantity.

Sven Osymthe 09-21-2009 11:24 PM

Not that I don't like the idea, I just don't see it as something Disney should be focusing on at this time. Plus, as has been said, those people spent countless hours to achieve that, and I doubt they would want it to be taken away. If they made a separate leaderboard.. thats one thing, but resetting the current one isn't worth it in my opinion.

I think the problem is, that would require them to not on track kills, but also the Notoriety, Weapon, and Enemy level combinations as well.

Then the formula becomes too complicated for any pirate to comprehend or follow.

I think it works as it is.

I understand what your getting at, but I think the solution would be more complicated than its implementation warrants.

Uhh can I change my vote?
I voted Yes when I just read the title. When grey should count for something.

I agree that this would be more fair to lower levels. The leader boards would have to change the title (not number of enemies defeated but rather a point system).

I would even like to see the leaderboards reset every year to give newer players more of a chance or maybe just a daily, yearly, all time option.

MacIronhawk 09-22-2009 02:01 PM

I would rather see the amount of kills, but beside the amount, we'd see the amount of levels that player killed. I know Billy the Kid over here didn't defeat five thousand enemies on Tormenta yesterday!(just using that name as an example)

I have to agree with Sven. I came to play the game. And as far as leaderboards go, the only one I strive to see my pirates on is my guilds leaderboard. When a member of the Elite Thievery Co. posts 300 plus kills in a day, they are usually quality kills for the pupose of leveling. Yes, a bunch of them might be greenies, but when you are leveling, say nades and working the parade ground on Kingshead, they are still worthy kills. Leave the current board as is. We know what the pirates with outrageous numbers are doing and why. Let them think they a big and tough. We know the truth.

What does it matter

What does it really matter? It doesn't mean anything, you don't win anything and other then impressing the other players that bother to look at the leader board its really useless. Best way to deal with it is stop looking at it. Then there is no incentive to waste time killing things uselessly just to get on the useless list.
