Ship Customization: easy, but effective addition for POTCO!
 

Heres (apparently not my) idea:
since enemy ships can use advanced broadside cannonballs like explosives and fury, why cant we choose the same?
So at the shipright menu, there could be "broadside ammo" which would have under the list:
choose ship:
[Bountyhunter serpent]
[cutthroat rouge]
[fire-sail executioneer]

lets say Bountyhunter serpent was a light sloop. If you clicked on it, it would look like this:

Choose cannon:
◎ ◎
◎ ◎
◎ ◎ ←you clicked this one

Choose ammo:
chained cannonballs $----
grape shot $----
firebrand $-----
lighting shot $----- ←you clicked this one.
explosive $-----
fury $-----

Now that you have chosen your ammo, its time to calculate your damage. Lets say your average damage was one-thousand. with 5 skill points in broadside, now your average is 1200!

Now that we ha examined your purchase, lets figure out what you paid. each would cost 1000 times more than they did in the ammo shop. Now that you've purcased the Lightning cannonball, one of these will be fired from your selected cannon. IMO, I would use lightning and a couple explosive. What does POF think of (sombody elses) idea?

I like the idea, but as has been said before, I would prefer a new story before anything else.

maybe this can be unlocked like the different dolls, daggers, and such.

I really like your idea here, it always annoys me how a Behemoth can use explosives for its broadsides, but I'm stuck with regular cannonball. I have to put 5 skill points on normal cannonball (in cannon section, not sailing) in order for my broadsides to do a decent amount of damage. I would love to use fury, lightning, etc instead, since most of my skill points are there.

lol, not wasted, its a good idea. Just saying, I personally would want a story first.

oh wait.. did you edit over the "as has been said before" part.. I meant that people would prefer story over things such as this.. although the idea has come up before, you added to it.

I'd like to see new releases in preparation for the story, for example the notoriety was raised to fight Jolly Roger, or so they say. But, if a new story quest was to come, I'd hope they'd release new content along with it such as weapons, ships, etc.

I love ideas of ship customization, but I dont think any of it is as easy as we would like to believe.

Would love to see customization add such ability.
Im sure they are working on ship customization, likely taking their time to do it right.

Well, I dont think we are talking about actual real ships here Roger.
Just ship customization ideas in the game, there have been 100s posted here on POF alone.
We do not need to know more about real ships, we need to know what we want with ship customization in the game (which will NEVER be realistic), and get our ideas/message to Disney/POTCO.

How about this: you can select the ammo for broadsides, but that ammo comes from your purchased ammo? It'd basicly make your broadside ammo and your cannon ammo come from the same store. So, for instance, if you had a War Frigate, and you wanted left broadside ammo of Fury, it'd cost you 12 Fury cannonballs.
