Before the Update is Released
Hey Dueces.
I have a few things that I would reccommend prior to the release of the new updates. THis especially is for the level 40's. First, decide on your approach to levelling. Some people are saying level weapons first, then worry about Notoriety, and some want to work Noto first. Most of the testers agree that the increases in Weapons levels WILL NOT earn you enough rep to bring your pirate much past level 46 Noto. If you work the weapons up first, then you will be in that "Grinding" position all over again. I believe that Disney is going to have to release a big rep story line in order for us to reach level 50 Noto. Others say to grab anything and everything that can gain you Noto first, then worry about weapons later. The Casa Muertos quest(s) can earn you quite a bit of rep, in a short period. (And Gold.) They will only be available for a short time. BUT, remember, the faster you rep Noto, the harder it is to level weapons. Some advice. Spend some gold before the release. It appears that this release will not increase the gold caps. So, if you have 65K going into the release, all that Casa Muertos (for sake of dicussion, abbreviated CM.) gold will be wasted. Also, the gold earned doing all those wepaons will go to waste. I took all 4 of my 40's ingame and spent them down to about 40K each. (Even bought clothes, YUK.) Give some of it away if you want, but get rid of some just so you can enjoy re-earning it. Balance your wepons, retrain if necessary. (This will spend a little gold, too.) I am keeping about 5 skill points back on each weapon. 40 unspent points per pirate. As things develop, I'll be able to better determine WHERE I want to spend them. Also, by keeping your skills lower, you will earn better rep from your various attacks. Find a good balance, strong enough to beat the average level 45 enemy by yourself, but low enough that you earn good rep. (Hahahahaha) Before the update, get rid of any little quests you can. Things like "Work for Hire". On test, I had to finish some of these little quests on Hye, before I was able to take on the CM quests. Any of the quests that reward you with gold, playing cards, etc., are limited in how many you can have in your journal at a time. Quests from Josie, Captain Job, and other NPC's. I had to finish some in order ot take on others. I don't believe that game quests, the Pearl, weapons, etc., will stop you form taking on the CM quests. The CM quests are all Gold and Rep. Lots of both. I know everyone has different thoughts about how to level. I'm not trying to tell you how to do it. I'm just trying to make everyone think about it, before they are put into the position. |
One thing about this that nobody is understanding is that YES you can get to lvl 50 with these weapon upgrades!!!!
Pirates on test are almost mastered and are lvl 47-48... Ex: So I master my doll to lvl 30. I still use my doll in tormenta to kill things and still get REP!!!!! This REP is ususally for Notoriety and weapon!!!! This time its just that rep for Notoriety.... So I can still kill things if im fully mastered and get rep. |
True Aaron, but for now, we don't know if this is the way D intended it, or if it's a bug. Just going to have to see what comes in the release.
I'm sure with the release of the next chapter and lev 6 weapons, there will be plenty of rep to get to 50, if not beyond, so we can start complaining about raising the caps again ;) As for my 40's, I've checked each one of them for treasure quests, all good. Need to spend some gold though....re-training here I come. If any guildie is getting close to 15 sailing, lemme know, I'll have a ton to donate as well ;) |
Also im going for power this time instead of rep...
Instead of taking a while or 115 rep than i will just kill them or 50 real quick. I could kill three seabeards while you kill one with 115 rep to my 150 rep!!!:laughks2::dancetl6: |

Everyone is entitled to their own methods. After all, that's what make us different. I just don't see any sense in taking my weapons straight to 30, and then doing nothing but grind Noto. I'm going to hold out hope that Disney has plans to give us a story chapter to help us get to 50. I see your approach, but I refuse to put myself in position that my pirates grind all the way to 50, THEN there is new content that goes to waste. I'm in no hurry to find myslef in the same position that I have been for the last year plus. Maxed out with nothing to do. |
Nice post Basil, I might not be in DW, but I still like the useful tips. Such as for the gold... I completely forgot about that :mybadki6: if I do the quest, I better find some way to use it before its released.

If you're just using the same weapon over and over... you should NOT be earning rep towards anything (once that weapon is mastered, before mastering is another story). Quite a few people on Test are using this to "become the first level 50" rather than reporting it as a bug. While others are playing fairly and leveling the hard way. I have a friend on Test who has mastered everything except for grenades, and she is level 45 (without using a mastered weapon to get notoriety). And as Basil said... whats the point of people leveling up this way? If someone levels like this, they are gonna be in the same position as they were last year... bored, waiting for new content.. and it will only be their own fault. Plus, people that are doing this, as I said.. are aiming to be the first level 50. In my opinion.. if you hit level 50 through exploiting a bug in the game, I wouldn't consider you to be a real level 50, over someone who spent time leveling every weapon the way they were intended to. |
Though what if Disney intended this. They wouldn't raise the cap lvl to something you cant become would they???
If they did then we will be waiting for a story quest coming who knows when!!!:psmiley27: |

Great words of advice Basil.
I considered how one would approach hitting level 50 from the ground up on a pirate considering that you could NOT gain notoriety on a weapon once mastered. At first I thought, you'd need to grind/master your weapons first getting the most out of the notoriety rep they reward, however I realized that gaining notoriety reps does not effect the weapon reps, so foregoing questing/notoriety in that fashion was not necessary as they all continue to move you forward irregardless (until a weapon is mastered), and either way is going to be just as effiicient, so play the game your way and have fun! The only thing I could see effectively changing was the use of "double rep" events. Double rep events may be more useful in questing/notoriety points than the more typically observed weapons leveling. I agree regarding the reps on mastered weapons situation, in that it definately does not seem like it was planned without a mention in the release notes, it very well may be a bug. If it is not, as for why the did not implement it earlier?, it wasnt necessary, this may be their motivation in opening up such a feature. I do not think they want the PR nightmare of implementing an unattainable goal. Perhaps it is intended only on the interim until they get the next story quest out. |
Oh yea I totally forgot about skill points! After I mastered all my weapons I re-assigned all the points to make my weapons do major damage... now that I have to level them again I may need to invest in some re-re-assignment.

If you have a pirate close to Noto 20, work them up to that level. The last part of the CM quest is only open to Noto 20 and higher.
You may as well get as many of your pirates thru all parts of the Cm quest if you can. |
For those of us who started, but did not finsih, the Father's Day quest on our Mastered pirates: I intend to do that quest, then immediately jump on the CM quests. 14K or so of free rep is too tempting to pass up. I also saved all the level 5 weapons and the clothing quests on the two pirates that were fully Mastered BEFORE those quests were released. I discussed this last summer when the level 5 and clothing quests were first released. Now I should have some really good questing to do.
