Sailing: Better or Worse!?
Okay, so I'm sure once you get a better ship, sailing will be a lot better, but right now, sailing is way too tricky. I swear the ships are faster than me haha. And they always run. That or they're high level and they'll chase you down and blow you away. What do you guys think of the new sailing experience!?

Them: 13
Me: 0 They always attack me for no reason, but then when I want them to stay still so I can attack them, they run away! Its like playing cat and mouse. I'm actually scared of the seas. I love sailing to Cuba, but that is where most of the big, evil ones are. Its scary seeing ships ahead of you being burnt up. Really. |
I haven't seen anything below a level 6. And I think I've only seen a 6 or 7 once. The others have been 10 and above. I agree they seem so much faster than our little boat lol I'm stuck on my voodoo doll quest and my other quest because I have to get stuff from the navy ships and EITC ships. arg! lol

Yeah, I just need to get a ship thats not a sloop, and I'll be in business. At least that's the plan...lol...
|
I've actually taken down 2 sloops(Don't remember) with my own sloop, and I have only taken 1 hit. Last Phase I couldn't even sail or sink a ship due to lag.
So for me, the sailing is better. Sr.Penguin |
Them: 3
Me: 2 I tried to take down a low level EITC ships, but a couple of war sloops happened to notice I was there and they blasted the bejeezus out of my ship. I have also sunk a few navy ships, thankfully there are a few low level ones outside of port royal. But I am at a loss for speed. My ship is insanely slow. Maybe it will get better as the ships get larger. |
I keep sinking and got down to only 14 gold repairing my ship numerous times. :skull:

I've noticed it you sail straight, you will eventually pick up speed, but as soon as you tack, you slow back down and have to wait a bit for the speed to return. I picked "full-sail" for my last upgrade, doesn't work nearly as well as staying on same course.
Broadsides work so much better this time around. I've been able to sink some Navy ships using just them. Don't be afraid to go after the level 11-13 sloops with your light sloop, especially if they are off by themselves. They go down pretty quickly with the broadsides, 6-7 acurate shots. Gaining sailing exp is much easier now. |
i am pretty much in agreement with everyone. it is very difficult to sail alone and if you do you need to stick close to an island so you can dock quickly if damaged.
sailing experience does go up faster and much easier to just use that, but then why would we not to build crews to help on the cannons as well? :pirate41: i have been sucessful a few times on my own by using teh tactcs listed above but much more sucessful when part of a larger group - a few of us sort of formed an armada :) |
